He dips his mouth close to my ear and whispers. “You’re the most beautiful woman in here. You’re the only one that I see.”

This guy is so freaking charming. And it’s like a magic trick, the way he makes my insecurities melt away with just a few sweet words.

He reels me into his arms, pulling me close against his chest. Our bodies move together, creating a forcefield all our own. When he’s this close, I’m not aware of anybody or anything but him.

I’m so lost in him that I barely even notice that the crowd is getting wilder. A fast-paced song is playing now, shaking the room.

Harry is over by the bar, using his best dance moves on his blushing wife.

When Cash starts doing an embarrassing rendition of the robot, Meghan bats his awkward arms out of the air and starts twerking against his crotch as a distraction.

Jasper is on the stage now, doing a cowboy hip thrust against his red-faced, wide-eyed wife.

As for Davis and Alana, they’ve bypassed all the dancing and gone straight for blatant making out in a dark corner of the room. Wait—isn’t he running for mayor? Is he allowed to do that?

The whole time, Mason keeps his eyes on me, swaying with me the way he wanted to when we were at the North Node last week. Without my brothers’ watchful eyes keeping us apart, Mason holds my body like I belong to him and I love every minute of it.

I’m giggling through another dizzying spin when a booming voice breaks through my dance-induced high. “Mason, give the girl a lap dance!”

Wha…?

Feet faltering, I look around.

Jasper is holding a microphone now and smirking in our direction from the stage. His wife buries her face against his chest, laughing. The rest of the crowd hoots along in agreement.

“You losers would like that far too much,” Mason barks out, ignoring them. I lock my arms around his neck, blissfully continuing to roll my body against his, trying to block everyone out.

But before I know it, the entire tavern is chanting. “Lap! Dance! Lap! Dance!”

Mason tries to talk himself out of the situation but nobody’s listening to him. In fact, Harry appears out of nowhere and slides a chair to the edge of the dance floor.

Jasper’s eyes twinkle with mirth. “If you’re not man enough to show the girl a good time, there’s more than a handful of single men in here who will.”

“Me! Me! Me!” Guys start bursting through the crowd, pushing and shoving and tripping all over each other, volunteering to get the job done.

Oh my god! What is this freaky town?!

The chanting from the crowd doesn’t let up and, ultimately, the mob gets what the mob wants.

With a searing look, Mason grabs my hand and leads me toward the empty chair. As soon as my ass hits the seat, someone changes the music to Britney Spears.

I’m dying. Swear to god. I’m incinerating in this chair.

Meanwhile, Mason is now dancing in a circle around me. And the way he’s rocking his hips. Who knew a doctor could work his hips like that? Is that what they’re teaching in med school these days?

I’m giggling non-stop, even as my panties grow wetter and wetter. Even as my nipples tingle with need. In a heartbeat, he whips off his shirt and flings it at my face. And,Hello, abs!

Just when I think it’s impossible to get even more turned on, Mason grabs both of my knees, flinging them apart.

My mouth literally falls open when he manhandles me like that.

He grips the back of my chair, lowering onto my lap. My head falls back and I don’t know if I’m moaning or shrieking with laughter when he starts grinding down on my aching core. It’s awkward and it’s funny and I’m turned on as hell.

His fingertips find my jaw, forcing my eyes back to his face. Our gazes lock with an intensity that puts me in a trance. This feeling bubbling up inside me is more than lust. It’s a need I can’t quite categorize. I need him to own my body. I need him to claim my soul. I need to be his.

The crowd is going crazy as the song comes to an end. But the spell I’m under refuses to let go. Something changed during that song. Something’s different now. From this point onward, I don’t know if we can turn back.
