“Quiet back there!”

“No one is sampling anything!”

“By the itching these men are doing, they already sampled something…”

“Can I see you three in Houghton’s office?”

“Yes, sir.”

Eric heard the exchange and couldn’t resist looking around the curtain – only to see several other guys were also peeking as Captain Logan disappeared into an office with the three nurses, addressing them. He couldn’t hear what they were saying to each other… but could certainly tell that the girls were laughing.

“Well, that’s not good…”

“Does anyone have any marks, rashes, blisters, or anything?”

“It does look bigger than normal…”

“Oh puhhhlease, Selkirk…”

“Hey, you pitch underhanded? I’m swinging the bat, Talbot.”

“He does have a point.”

“Collins, unless it’s glowing – nobody wants to know.”

“I wanna know...”

“Selkirk!”

“Well? I do… if I start glowing? I’m taking laps tonight around the base nude and everyone’s gonna know it. I can promise you that!”

“Oh my gosh…” Eric muttered, laughing.

“WHAT?! Is yours glowing?!”

“I wanna see!”

“My privates?”

“Can you guys just stop? Nobody’s privates are glowing, and no one is showing anyone anything!”

“Feels like it should be by how much I’ve been scratching…” someone muttered, only to hear laughter again as the door opened in the distance, revealing several bad attempts to keep a straight face.

The nurses’ lips kept twitching, and only the Captain looked ‘sour’ in that moment as he glared at the six men in the clinic – just before he looked at the doorway.

There was another soldier waiting to come in – and another behind him.

“Is this some new government testing of torture…?”

“Corporal, please get dressed – in fact – all of you get dressed.”

“Aren’t you going to check us?”

Captain Logan cleared his throat loudly, catching everyone’s attention.

“It has been determined that there is an issue with… the soap used to launder our garments. If you’ll get dressed, go get a shower, put on something that hasn’t been washed in the last three or four days – and turn everything else in to be cleaned once more – you’ll be fine.”

“It’s the laundry soap?”
