“Holden?” Britt asks in surprise, turning to him.

“Oh yeah, he’s super creative and comes at most problems with a logical attitude.” Jade perks up in her curiosity as she examines Holden as they continue discussing his personality traits.

I rub my hands over my face and turn to Luca to find the same mix of amusement and exasperation I feel on his face.

“Okay, so who are the Slytherins?” Britt asks.

“Luca,” Scarlett answers right off the bat, then hums. “Ty too.”

“Where is he, by the way?” Jade asks.

“One of our friends from the East Coast asked for some backup with a trafficking ring they have going on over there,” Scarlett explains. I wasn't there when she got the call for assistance, but I’ve heard all about the drama unfolding in Black Hallows. Seems about as messy as what we have going on here.

“Are those really our only Slytherins?” Holden asks in shock.

“Do we count Dare?” Scarlett asks. “Cause she’s definitely a Slytherin.”

“And. You.” Kade shakes his head as he uses both hands to point at her.

“Me?” she exclaims in shock. “I’m a Hufflepuff.”

The entire table bursts out in laughter of pure disbelief. “There’s no way in the hell you crawled out of that you are anything but a Slytherin,” Ian argues.

Kade yells, “Thank you!” so loudly we start to draw attention from other tables. Not that that is anything out of the usual.

Noah shrugs. “I would have accepted Ravenclaw too.”

“Not Hufflepuff though,” Holden agrees. “That’s the last house you belong in.”

“Oh,” she says with a pert expression. “You don’t think I’m loyal? I’ll remember that the next run we go on. I’m patient, hard working,” she starts listing off other traits.

“You sure as shit ain’t humble,” Ian mutters.

“And what about a moral code?” Holden points out.

She gasps. “I have a very strong moral code.” Everyone at the table just stares at her. She coughs. “It may not align with the societal norm, but I have one.”

It’s hard to not laugh at the absolute absurdity of this whole conversation. I put my face in my hand as I shake my head. “Why do we associate with this nonsense?” I mutter to Luca.

He scoffs, “I’ve been asking myself that for years, D.”

Scarlett unfortunately hears us and flips the both of us off. “Shut up, Gryffindor,” she says to me.

I put my hands up in front of my chest. “Whoa, hold on now. Gryffindor? If anything, I'm a Ravenclaw.”

“So you do care?” she counters.

“Never said I didn’t,” I respond with ease and a lift of my shoulder. “Just that I couldn’t believe we were really having this conversation right now.”

“You really shouldn't be surprised anymore.” Kade points out. I have to give it to him, he isn’t wrong.

Before I can say anything else though, Dare walks up to our table, topping off all of our drinks. Her gaze flits over to where Jade is again. Like it has every other time she’s come over. After she sets down the rest of the drinks, she meets Scarlett’s eyes. “Can we talk?”

Scarlett doesn’t let any of her reaction show, but I can tell she’s surprised. It doesn’t stop her though. She nods before climbing over Kade to reach Dare. At my side, Luca also stands.

“I need to prepare the music too. Make sure everything is set up,” he explains. The three of them walk away from the table but Luca stops at the bar while the women walk into his office. Closing the door behind them.

I wonder what Dare needs to say to Scarlett?
