I huff out a laugh. “You realize you’d be way behind because we don’t spend as much time with you, right?”

He rolls his eyes. “That is not the point. I want my name on the board too. I’m the one who got the blueprints for the renovations of the theater,” he reminds all of us.

Scar tilts her head in contemplation. “He’s not wrong. The blueprints were vital.”

“Oh god, please no,” Ry begs. “I can’t look at those fucking things one more time. I think he should lose points for finding those things.” Everyone laughs, even Dark and Douchey chuckles a bit at that.

“At least tonight won’t be an all nighter,” Noah consoles him.

“I come bearing gifts,” Jade announces as she walks into the room carrying pizzas.

“Oh,” Scar beams. “If we are adding everyone to the board, thirty points to Jade for bringing food and minus three hundred to Ian for making her carry it.”

“Seconded,” I answer. “What the fuck, man?” I take the boxes out of Jade’s arms and put them on the biggest table in the room.

Ian sighs as he puts cases of beer into the mini fridge we had put in here a few weeks ago when this became the only place we congregated. “I told her I would take two trips and she said…”

Jade cuts him off. “I said, you all need to stop freaking out so goddamn much. I’m okay. All better now.” She lifts her shirt to show her healed wound. “I’m not going to break over some pizza.”

Declan hums under his breath, shooting her a look. “Healed doesn’t mean back to a hundred percent,” Scar argues as she gives Jade what I’ve rendered her big sister look. Before dropping her gaze to the very large and obvious boot that’s still on Jade’s foot. She doesn’t have to use crutches anymore, but her ankle is still very much not healed.

Jade doesn’t respond, instead dropping her shirt and turning her attention to Rachel. “Oh no, Rachel. We aren’t working today.” Scar runs her fingers through her hair as Jade grabs Rachel’s hand and pulls her to one of the open couches in the room.

“We are working today,” Scar corrects. Groans sound throughout the room and she shakes her head, muttering to herself, “Minus ten points to all the little bitches in the room.”

“Don’t listen to her,” Jade tells Rachel as she rests her head against her shoulder. Rachel immediately starts to look concerned as she looks at her sister.

“Are you sure you’re okay?”

Jade sighs but laughs it off. She’s used to all of our hovering now. Doesn’t mean she likes it. “I can just be tired without anything being wrong.”

Even though Jade isn’t participating in tomorrow’s run, she’s been here through all of the planning. Every little bit of it. Ian is coming with us tomorrow and Jade still doesn’t like being home alone. Not that any of us are okay with it. Everything that happened has left a new scar on all of us.

It also helps since she’s finally told Scar that she eventually wants to be on one of the unofficial teams that does the rescue missions for Mending Hearts. Getting a feel for how we work will help her prepare for when that day comes.

Nicholis watches the two women with a strange look in his eyes. He doesn’t know about their intertwined history, something Alec seems to think is hilarious. We still haven’t been able to figure out the story between the three of them, even with the way all three of them have practically moved in. “So why did you actually lose points?” he asks Scar. It has to be her because she’s the only one who’s actually managed to be deducted from.

Scar hums before moving away, grabbing the marker from Ryder. “Oh, that?” she responds as she starts adding names to the board. “That’s from getting stabbed,” she answers as Britt, Mikey, and Ronan walk in.

Britt takes one look at the board and cackles. “D&D? You guys really don’t have the time to dive into the world of Dungeons & Dragons.”

Scar’s hand drops as she stares at her friend in stunned silence. She slowly blinks at her as if she just needs a moment to process her words. “You’ve been around enough that you should know better, Britt.”

It takes her a moment, but she gets there. “Oh,” she emphasizes. “Dark and Douchey. Got it.”

Alec snorts. Every damn time.

“When are you gonna grow up, Little Bug?” Nicholis snarks. It’s been his preferred nickname for Scar ever since he overheard me call her Ladybug. She glares at him, but she thinks it’s hilarious.

“When are you going to stop being a douche?”

He stays at his spot in the corner of the room, not ever getting too close with the rest of us. Scar is pretty much the only one he will banter with outside of Rachel and Alec. “Born this way,” he answers.

Rachel laughs. “Don’t I know it.”

“Real question though,” Ian interrupts the chaos. “Why did Declan and Noah both get a hundred points?”

Scar grins wickedly. We really did need to go over everything one last time to make sure everyone is on the same page for tomorrow, but she also wanted to fill them in on this.
