Page 124 of Vicious Chaos

“Fuck you,” Nic yells as he drops into the front seat of D’s car.

“He’s insufferable on the best of days,” Alec continues as if he can’t hear his twin still yelling at him about not being slow. Everyone here knows Nic took a knife meant for Rachel, but no one is going to say anything. It’s become one of our favorite pastimes to piss the guy off.

“No way are we missing out on the fun just because he has a little boo boo. D will hold his hand. He’ll live,” Alec finishes. Rachel has her face buried in her hands as she stifles the snort at his words.

Luca watches on passively, but his amusement isn’t hard to see if you know where to look. Kade on the other hand, doesn’t bother to cover up how amped he is to continue the chaos. He’s bouncing on the balls of his feet, ready to jump in the car and haul ass to the strip club.

Noah kisses Scar’s cheek. “I’ll see you at home later. I’m going with D.” He waves to the rest of us as he heads to jump into the back seat. Max, Mikey and their guys wave their goodbyes as well before hopping into their own trucks.

Sirens start going off in the distance and all movement in our group halts as we stare at each other. Scar stops and checks her watch, nodding to herself. “Yupp, that’s our cue.” Of course, she even had the police response timed out perfectly.

“Let’s go,” she yells, and everyone rushes. It’s only moments later before the once abandoned theater is evacuated. Kade hesitates only long enough to make sure all the other cars pull out before we do.

Once we are down the street, Scar checks her phone again. “Everyone clear?” After a chorus of confirmations coming through our comms, she retrieves a remote from the glove department. Kade turns onto the main street and Scar turns in her seat to look back at the isolated theater.

I follow suit and I’m not the only one. Next to me, Luca also turns around while Rachel and Alec are in the seats behind us, already facing out the rear window. I hear the soft click that signifies Scar hitting the button.

Almost immediately, fire blooms out from the center of the building, consuming it rapidly in flames and smoke. So intense it doesn’t even seem real. The car rocks with the force of the explosion. Kade’s cackle fills the car as he races off.

One building down, one more to go.

“Totally worth all the planning,” Alec comments.

“Hopefully, we never have to plan that much ever again,” I agree.

I never thought I would get tired of the faces of those in this car, but fuck. There really did come a time when I wanted to punch Alec in his face every time he showed up at the house.

“This is why we lead,” Rachel taunts.

Scar immediately agrees and Alec and I huff in feigned annoyance. Luca rolls his eyes and pulls out his computer, muttering to himself, “Why did I come with the children?”

I choose to ignore him when Kade pinches Scar’s thigh and she yelps. “You can lead, Ladybug. Why would I want to spend as much time on the computer as you do? I’d rather be in the action.”

She flips him off and Rachel scoffs. “Pretty sure she gets more action than any of us.”

Even Luca chuckles at the double meaning of that statement. Alec acts affronted. “That a challenge, Snow Queen?”

“Eww.” She slaps his chest. “You know I hate that name.”

“It doesn’t really fit you,” Scar agrees. I can see that. I mean the whole cocaine thing, yeah. But Rachel is fiery in every aspect of her personality.

“Queen kinda does,” I point out.

She hits me in the back of the head, but Scar is already backing me. “You are always all regal and shit. Like damn, don’t your feet hurt?”

She has a good point. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Rachel not in her signature red bottoms with their crazy heels. Even today she looks the part of mafia princess. Scar likes to wear heels too, but about as often as Rachel doesn’t. It’s a lot less now that we rarely ever leave the house to do anything other than kill people.

Rachel shrugs. Accustomed to the way Scar and the other girls obsess over her choice of shoes.

“The Original Rose is such a better name,” Rachel huffs.

Scar starts laughing. I watch as Luca’s lips twitch. “That stems from dancing,” Scar answers.

“Still a better name,” Rachel sulks.

“Aww, Mistress, don’t be sad. You have other names.”

The car fills with a lighthearted atmosphere as we continue to talk and tease each other. The adrenaline and high from the auction mixing with the comfort of being with people that make all the darkness we live in that much brighter, and the excitement of what’s next.
