I laugh. “Of course he hasn’t. It’s just you don’t really know what happened in that office at all. Romano lied to you.” Confusion clouds his face as he follows along with my words. He opens his mouth to argue before closing it again, doubting the story he has been fed for years.

I look up at him, almost wishing he was strapped to a chair instead. “My father wasn’t the one who raped and abused me.” I enjoy the shock that almost electrifies his whole body as comprehension dawns on him. “No, four men were with him. Four men who spent hours destroying me at my father’s orders. Four men who all still back Romano. Men who will die at my hands.”

Fear enters his gaze. He knows this is the real information I’m after and he doesn’t have it. I can see the worry blooming that maybe what he’s given me won’t be enough to save her.

“I don’t have names,” he swears.

“That’s okay,” I answer, sheathing my knife back into its holster. “I know you don’t.” I turn away and take a few steps away, just enough to build momentum. “Oh, and William? Taylor’s already dead. I cut out her tongue and let her drown in her own blood.”

Tears stream down his face as he curses me out. I step forward and kick the stool out from his feet. His screams are cut off at the sudden drop and he puts all his attention on trying to pull himself up. His body is too exhausted though.

He struggles as the weight pulling on his arms makes it near impossible to breathe. His coughs and sputters fill the room as I walk away and meet the guys. Tyler, Holden, and Ian’s eyes are all wide as they watch William fighting for his life.

“Did not know that would kill a person,” Holden mutters.

I nod as I turn to watch the show. Not as bloody as my usual work, but probably the most excruciating death. I wonder if his mind is full of thoughts of Taylor drowning in her own blood, or if he’s too consumed by his own impending death?

“It’s the same with crucifixion,” I explain. “There was blood loss and starvation of course, but it was the lack of oxygen that usually killed. The weight of your body dragging you down makes it harder and harder to breathe.”

“Huh,” Ian huffs. “Learn something new every day.”

“I’m just sayingit would be pretty cool if there was one like this,” Jade pushes as she points down to the book she’s reading that Kade gave to her. His grin is almost as wide as my own, not that Jade notices.

Ian calls her attention away from us before either of us can give her a real answer. I won’t lie though, there’s definite potential in what she’s suggesting. She looks dead on her feet to keep her here talking though. We can come back to this another day.

I give him directions to the nearest car we have on standby and call for Ryder. He walks into the room almost immediately, already tossing the keys to Ian. He catches them before sweeping Jade off her feet. I snort at the way she immediately relaxes and snuggles into his arms.

I trade looks with Kade again, a secret smile playing on his lips as he watches them. Does he know something I don’t? I narrow my eyes at him, there’s too much smugness on his face.

“I’ll give you tomorrow off, but after that you’re going to start running,” I tell Jade, turning my attention back to her. We all know something is brewing between her and Ian, but I’ll have to harass Kade later to see just what he and Jade talked about while we were gone.

Jade groans, “I see why Britt calls you a cunt so often.”

I roll my eyes and ignore her, looking only at Ian. “Get her home, Ian. And do not leave her side.”

The affection he feels for her is so easy to see on his face as he stares down at her. The way she’s so relaxed with him speaks volumes. I knew it was a good idea to put him on bodyguard duty, even if it had started as a joke. I feel my own smug smile spreading across my face as Kade leads them out of the room and to the entrance of the tunnels.

Ryder grips my arm and pulls me against his chest. I look up at him and still see the uncertainty brewing in his eyes until I lean into him. He runs his hands down my sides until he moves them to cup my ass. A small moan escapes me as I feel how hard he is pressed against my stomach.

I tug on his shirt and he smiles as he leans down to capture my lips with his. I nip his bottom lip before soothing it with my tongue. He smiles against my mouth before taking control of the kiss.

His whole body seems more relaxed as he pulls away from me. I pout as I look up at him but he just chuckles before turning me around and settling me against his chest.

I smirk as I see all the others watching the two of us, smiles on their faces and heat in their eyes. A shiver racks through my body, causing them all to chuckle. “Later, Scar,” Ryder whispers in my ear.

“What were you guys talking about with Jade?” Noah asks, breaking up some of the tension between all of us.

Kade grins and laughs a little. “She has an idea for a new club.”

Noah’s surprise is obvious. “Do we have time for that right now?”

I look at Luca as I shrug. Life has to keep moving forward. He sighs but doesn’t stop me. He hasn’t even heard the idea yet. “It has some merit,” I pause as I think about the type of club she was talking about. “Actually, I love it.”

Ryder squeezes me from behind. “Then spit it out.”

I throw a look over my shoulder at him, but he just stares back at me. I love that every day I spend with him, he seems like he’s more and more at home here. Like less of his grief is suffocating him and we get to see more of who he is as a person.

“A sex club,” I say proudly, laughing as all the guys minus Kade splutter.
