I catch sight of myself in the mirror and I look every bit as flustered as I feel. My hair has a freshly fucked look, but its the wide eyes and pink tinging my cheeks that really surprises me. I somehow look younger and more innocent right now.

Forcing myself to take deep breaths, I start to clean up the mess we made between my thighs. When even that’s done and my heart has yet to slow down even a little, I decide to give myself a few more minutes of reprieve by hopping in the shower.

As soon as the water warms up, I step under the spray. At the same time the door opens and I look up to find Declan staring at me in amusement. Still as naked as I left him, but already growing hard again as his eyes drift over my exposed body in the shower.

“Did you really think I was going to let you run away from me, pretty girl?”

Yesterday was a whirlwind.

One I’m still trying to process.

I shake my head and try to dispel the memories of last night that are running rampant through my mind right now. I snuck out of bed first thing this morning for a reason, one I need to remember and focus on. For once, I’m actually happy Declan had to work at his clinic today. After our night, it’s hard to resist the temptation of dragging him back into bed with me. But we have shit to get done.

The rest of the guys came with me to decide how we are going to deal with Rachel. Declan ran the DNA test as soon as Jade asked us to. It wasn’t a challenge since we had her blood readily available.

It didn’t take long for us to get the confirmation that Jade and Rachel are in fact biological sisters. It doesn’t mean that I trust her to be around Jade, but it does mean we are meeting her and Alec at Steel Roses this morning. There is a lot to go over before I decide our next move.

Meeting her at our place would be a lot more convenient with the benefits of having all of our equipment there, but today is about deciding if we can trust her. If we make it through today, future meetings can be at home in our security room. Everyone just has to make it out of today, still alive.

I hear the tell tale sign of the click of heels on the hard floors. I don’t have to move from my spot to know that Rachel must be here. She’s the only person I know that would be dressed to the nines this goddamn early in the morning.

I grumble under my breath before sucking down more of my coffee. The only thing keeping me relatively sane right now.

Kade chuckles behind me. “Nine-thirty isn’t the ass crack of dawn, Ladybug,” he teases. I flip him off as I listen to Rachel and Alec come up the stairs. Adam meets my eyes as they reach the top of the stairs before moving out of their way and welcoming them.

He gives me a clipped nod before starting to head down the stairs, giving us more privacy. I call out to stop him. “Adam, wait.”

He stops immediately and turns back, giving me his attention, a curious look on his face.

“Come with us,” I say, gesturing for him to follow as I drag myself to my feet and head into Luca’s office. I hear Ryder and Kade snickering behind me but don’t give them my attention. Children, both of them. I roll my eyes to myself as I sip on more coffee. Fuck, there isn’t enough caffeine in the world to get me through this. Why on earth did I ever roll out of bed this morning?

As soon as the door closes behind us, I survey Rachel, taking her in for the first time since she got here. I almost scoff aloud. She really is dressed to the nines. She’s wearing an all black pantsuit with a corset styled top and a gold Gucci belt. Her long black hair is slicked back and styled into a low ponytail. Gold jewelry shines at her throat, ears, fingers, and wrist. I don’t think the woman knows how to do casual.

I finish my perusal at her feet and smirk at the sight of her standard red bottoms. Pretty sure the four inch heels are her idea of dressing down.

I can tell she’s amused at me checking her out. It’s just that now I know she is Jade’s sister, I can’t help but compare the two of them. I don’t think Jade has ever worn heels in her life. Girl doesn’t even know how to do her own makeup.

“We have a lot to discuss,” I say, skipping to the chase. Everyone settles into seats around the table rather than at the desk. There isn’t enough room for all of us there. Ryder and Noah sit on either side of me on the couch. Rachel and Alec fall into the seats directly opposite from me, while Luca and Kade stay on the other side of Noah. Adam remains standing at my back, I can feel his confusion about being included, but we have to get through this first.

I meet Noah’s eyes before turning back to Rachel. So far, they’ve both been silent but I can sense their apprehension and unease. Noah takes out the file and tosses it on the table. Rachel doesn’t even flinch at the sound of the paper smacking against the wood.

“Jade is your sister,” I confirm. Her only tell is the slight widening of her eyes before she schools her expression. Alec, on the other hand, narrows his eyes at us. Making it clear as day he hates the idea of us having looked into Rachel.

“The thing is, blood doesn’t mean a whole lot to me,” I continue. She’s intelligent. I’ve always liked just how sharp she really is. She knows better than to try and say anything until I’m done. That’s how people get shot.

“This is how it’s going to go, you’re going to answer all of my questions. You answer them to my satisfaction, we continue to work together. You can’t or choose not to,” I pause as I take my gun out of my waistband and place it on the table in front of me. “You don’t leave this room alive.”

Everyone stays silent as I let her and Alec both absorb what I’m saying. He looks pissed, but Rachel never breaks eye contact. Not once has fear flickered through her eyes.

“Or you can leave now. Pack up, leave St Graves, forget about Jade and never come near her again.”

“She’s my sister,” Rachel answers without hesitation. I cock my head as I study both of them. Alec still looks pissed, but not scared. He’s mad at the way I’m talking to her, but I don’t think he actually has a problem with me asking questions. The guys wouldn’t be able to sit back silently if anyone were talking to me this way either.

“You’re gonna answer everything then?”

This time she doesn’t answer immediately, instead looking me over the way I have been doing to her. She takes her time in her perusal. There isn’t as much to note about my appearance. I really did roll out of bed and throw the first outfit my hands landed on. I mean, she could be counting my weapons I guess. I made sure to be armed to the teeth.

“I’ll give you all of the answers I can,” she agrees.
