After a quick shower following our little work experience this afternoon, the twins arrived back home. I asked Chase to stay quiet about it for now until I sorted out my head and he assured me, this time he would.

"How was your day?" Jax asks, walking past me in the kitchen to take a peek at the sizzling burgers in the pan.

"It was good," I mutter quickly. "How was yours?"

He shrugs. "Same old, same old. Chase is going to get his ass handed to him for missing training though."

I swing a quick look at Chase, who just shrugs in return.

"I had to take care of something. I'll explain to the coach on Monday."

I head out of the kitchen before my face can give me away, taking a seat next to Beau on the couch. His eyebrows are scrunched with concentration as he reads something on his cell.

"You okay?" I ask, tucking my legs under me.

He looks up, giving me a smile as he puts his cell away. "I'm fine. You're looking happy today."

"I'm just trying to be positive," I say. "I ran into Maxine today."

I relay the encounter to him, explaining her behavior and the pharmacy bag. He nods, letting me talk, and when I finish he pats his lap and looks at my feet.

Without hesitation, I shift to put my legs over him, watching as his talented hands start massaging my feet.

Jax and Chase talk in the kitchen about track stuff, the scent of food wafting into the living room and making my stomach rumble.

"How's your sister?" I ask, leaning back on my elbows.

"She's good. She's been dealing with some stuff too," he says lightly. "But she's tough like you."

I give a small laugh. "You're just saving everyone, aren't you?"

Beau shoots a tight smile my way. "I can't help it. I don't like seeing people hurt."

Hurt?

My heart aches wondering what happened with Chrizzy but it's a comforting feeling knowing she has two protective brothers looking over her.

"Are you looking forward to classes?" I ask, changing the subject.

Beau shakes his head, laughing as he runs his thumb down my foot. "I hate studying. I'm only at Groveton because their sports program is top tier. Unfortunately, we still have to study other subjects but mainly, it's about the running."

"But you've been distracted?" I repeat the words from a few days ago.

His jawline ticks a little but he doesn't look offended. "I have," he admits. "But it's fine. Everything will fall into place. What about you? Are you looking forward to classes?"

"Yeah, I guess I am. Each semester brings me a little closer to my dream and goals. I guess I'm a bit distracted now too."

Beau strokes my ankle. "It's understandable. You need something to help you stay focused. Someone to tell you what to do."

"I'm not great at taking directions," I joke.

"I don't believe that. I think you can take directions well. It's about believing you can though. You're in your own head a lot."

I nod in agreement as Chase walks into the living room, handing me a plate.

The other two sit down with us, the four of us eating quietly.

"This is really good, Chase," I say, giving him a thumbs up.
