"Focus on the road," I scold, clicking open his cell.

I go into Spotify, checking out his most recent playlists.

"Bad Omens, Panic! At The Disco, Taylor Swift…Blackpink?" I read out, looking at him in disbelief.

"What?" he says, feigning hurt. "I like music. I listen to all different types. Don't you judge me."

I tap the screen and start playing Taylor Swift's 1989 album. "I'm not. You just continue to surprise me."

"Surprises are good," he grins, watching the road. "It means people never see you coming."

"I saw you come last night," I mumble, screeching as he leans over and grabs my thigh, giving it a playful squeeze.

Chase looks at me briefly in pleasant surprise. "Oh, ticklish, are we? I'll be filing that away for later."

"Don't you dare," I say through clenched teeth, glaring at his hand.

The parking lot at the mall is largely full, but we manage to find a spot near the doors as someone leaves. We head inside, the air conditioner making it seem like we are walking into a refreshing ice box.

It's been ages since I have been to the mall, and I immediately stalk towards the food court.

"They have the best donuts here," I say, lining up at Dunkin Donuts.

"I want to try making donuts at home. I like glazed holes," Chase replies casually. The elderly woman in front of us, turns her head and glares at us. I spot a cross on her necklace and immediately mouth 'sorry' at her before covering my mouth to muffle my laughs.

After securing our sweet treats, Chase leads me to a few clothing stores, grabbing clothes off the rack and flinging them at me.

"Try these on," he orders, shoving me towards the changing rooms.

He takes a seat outside the curtains on the 'boyfriend chairs' and waits, humming excitedly.

I put on the first outfit – a royal purple playsuit before poking my head out of the curtains. "Am I showing you?" I ask.

Chase looks up from his cell. "Of course you are. Out you come, Hurricane."

I laugh, stepping out and giving a little twirl. Chase nods eagerly. "Definitely get that. Your ass looks really good."

"Chase!" I hiss. "Don't be saying shit like that loudly."

I duck into the changing room and slip on the next outfit of his choosing – a tartan pencil skirt and an off the shoulder black shirt.

"This is giving 2000s vibes," I say, stepping out.

"I'm still an emo kid at heart. You're changing into that skirt when we leave," Chase murmurs, staring intensely at my bare legs.

We go through several more outfits and several more stores before I finally beg for mercy. I have no idea how much money Aaron and Maxine sent, but Chase seems to be tapping his card quite happily without questioning any of the prices.

Dumping the bags in the trunk of the Mazda, I collapse on the seat, exhausted.

"Shopping is so draining. We made it just in time too. It's starting to rain a bit," I moan as Chase climbs into the driver's seat. The air is humid as little pellets of rain hit the windscreen.

"But you're going to look and feel like a million dollars. And it's funded by fuckers. A Fuckers' Go Fund Me!"

Shaking my head with laughter, I sit back, watching the scenery outside as we drive back.

We miss the turn to campus, my face scrunching up in confusion. "Where are we going?" I ask Chase.

His lips tug into a smirk. "Just a drive. I want to do something."
