"That's Ethan. He's starting to make his way to the pizza shop. I better get going."

The three of them watch me as I frantically make sure I have everything.

"If he doesn't offer to pay for you, kick his ass and come back," Jax says as I grab my purse.

"I like paying for myself," I tell him. "I'm a strong, independent woman."

Beau shakes his head. "Kick his ass."

I wave them off, heading to the door as I shove my cell in my pocket. "I'll be fine. Wish me luck!"

The three guys mumble variations of 'good luck' back as I head out the door, and I swear I even hear one of them curse as I close the door behind me.

"Thisisreallydelicious,"I say to Ethan, swallowing a bite of Meat Lovers pizza.

The two of us got our pizza for takeout, heading to the outer campus grounds to sit under a tree. The sun hasn't quite set yet, so there's a beautiful orange glow hitting the grounds, the trees illuminated and swaying with the gentle breeze.

Ethan is quite cute – his shoulder length blonde hair is pulled back into a bun and he has the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen. He has two little dimples on his cheeks and a silver chain around his neck. My eyes scan him, noticing the silver rings on his long fingers as he holds his pizza.

I had to laugh when I found him outside the pizza store, our outfits nearly matching. We had a chuckle about both of us wearing white shirts, particularly while eating pizza. I have to concentrate extra hard to make sure none of the toppings fall off onto me.

"They have the best pizza," he responds in a deep voice. "They were fully responsible for me gaining weight in my Freshman year."

His demeanor is so calm and relaxing, I can't help but think he'll make a great teacher. Turns out, he comes from a large family, the oldest of seven siblings. Despite the chaos he must have encountered growing up, taking care of his younger siblings gave him a love of young kids, so his goal is to become an elementary teacher.

I definitely agree he'll be great with little kids, but I also think he gives off 'hot sports teacher' vibes. His lean frame is the product of swimming, a hobby he loves doing several nights a week at the campus pool.

"My Freshman weight was sponsored by Dunkin Donuts and noodles," I laugh.

"Their donuts are amazing," he agrees, flashing his dimples at me.

I blush, looking down as I grab my soda can. "I have a bit of a sweet tooth as well. Anything sweet, I just love."

Ethan laughs. "I'll keep that in mind."

The two of us continue talking as the sun sets, conversation flowing easy. When the grounds start getting covered with darkness, we pack up, heading towards the campus buildings.

"I had a really nice time tonight," I tell him, disposing of the empty pizza box in a trash can.

"Me too," he says. "Are you free tomorrow night?"

I nod. "I think I am. I'll check my calendar and if I can't make it, I'll let you know. Otherwise I'll see you then."

Ethan smiles. "That sounds good."

My heart stops as he steps towards me. He leans down, pressing his lips against mine in a soft kiss.

I kiss him back before we part, our short peck already over. He's truly the perfect gentleman.

So, as we wave goodbye and head our separate ways, I can't help but question if something is wrong with me. He's everything I wanted to find. So, why did it feel so average when we kissed?

Chapter 21

Iexpecttofindthe guys in the apartment waiting for me when I arrive back home. I open the door, immediately spotting the empty couch and the tv turned off.

I close the door behind me, looking around. It's dead quiet, the only sounds coming from the bedroom closest to me.

Walking over, I stop in front of Jax's bedroom door, knocking softly.
