“Leon, we are the only ones here.”

He looked up from his menu. “Yes, we are. Do you have a problem with that?”

“It’s a really fancy place. I was expecting it to be packed with people.”

“I reserved the entire place for us tonight.”

“The entire place?” I asked and he nodded.

It made me feel really special that Leon would reserve an entire restaurant for the both of us. I relaxed and let down the guards I unknowingly had up the whole evening.

Chapter26

Leon

From the moment I picked Valentina up from her house, I couldn’t get over how beautiful she looked. Her dress was amazing and she smelled so good. I wanted to take that dress off and devour her body right there and then. It was a struggle to keep my hands to myself during the ride to the restaurant. I finally gave in by lacing our fingers together.

We arrived at the restaurant and went in. I looked around to make sure all the preparations I had put in place were intact. For one, we were the only ones there. As we sat and perused the menu, Valentina pointed out that we were the only ones there and I told her I reserved the entire place for us. She had a surprised expression on her face. Then it was replaced with an impressed smile. I aimed to impress her and that was working.

Our orders were taken and we were started on some wine and appetizers. Valentina took a sip of the wine and frowned. She said it had a really strong taste which she didn’t like. I called the waiter to get us another bottle of wine from a different brand. He brought it and she seemed to like this one.

“What was your major in college?” she asked, in an attempt to start a conversation. It worked.

“Computer Science. Those were some of the most interesting times of my life.”

“Almost everyone hated their time in college. How come it was different for you?”

“It was my first contact with tech. I learnt to code and when I tell you I had never been so interested and excited to learn anything, I mean it. The whole thing felt so good, it sat right with me almost immediately.”

“Wow. That’s exactly how it was for Vivian. Tech excites her so much and from the shiny look in your eyes, you’re still very much in love with it.”

“Yes, I am. It was my first love.” I said, putting my hand over my chest for dramatic effect. We both laughed.

“Is that how being an artist feels for you?”

“I don’t think it’s the same. I’ve always known how to draw and paint since my childhood. Going into college to study art felt like the natural thing to do. There was nothing that felt entirely new to me and I think I thrive in such environments, where things feel familiar.”

I nodded. “I understand that. Not everyone can grow or excel in entirely new things.” I watched her lift the glass to her lips and I swallowed hard.

“So, what was college like for you?” I asked.

“I was stressed half the time and the other half, I was painting.” There was so much schoolwork to be done. Although, I still went to parties and clubs. Thinking about it now, I don’t know how I managed to juggle all those things. If I try that now, I’ll pass out.”

We both laughed. “I said the same thing not too long ago. In college, we were running on 2 or 3 hours of sleep and tons of coffee. I wonder how we survived all of that.”

“It’s crazy.”

“Did you date a lot in college?” I asked out of nowhere.

She laughed, “Yeah, I did. I was an art major. Of course, I dated a lot.”

“Do you mind talking about your dating escapades? I’ll share mine, don’t worry.”

She smiled and opened her mouth to speak when our food got to our table. They finished serving and left before she continued.

“My most memorable relationship was with this nerd.”

“A nerd? What?” I laughed.
