She gasped loudly and then had to assure her grandfather she was all right, it was just... nothing, she said.

He took her wet panties and put them into his pocket, then left while she continued trying to form coherent answers to her grandfather.

“No, Gramps.” He heard her say as he walked out.

“I'm taking... care of it. I don't want you to worry about anything. I promise, just give me some time, okay? Nothing is going to happen to Everry Place, I promise.”

He supposed now was as good a time as ever to go and see her grandfather and set Dash up on a bloody date. What the fuck was she doing to him?

He didn’t visit old people, and he never set his friends up on fucking dates.

He called Dash from the car.

“Are you free tomorrow?” he asked straight away.

“For you, yup. What are we doing?”

“Charity event.”

“When and where?”

“Tomorrow morning. Some lake. I'll get you the details later.”

“A charity event at a lake in the morning?”

“That's what I said.”

“Everything I hate, but send me the details, and I'll be there.”

Hunter was just about to disconnect the call when he remembered. “Dash, make sure you wear Tom Ford cologne tomorrow.”

“Hunter Fucking McLeod, are you asking me out on a date?”

Hunter cut the call in the middle of his laughter. He really had no idea what he was doing anymore, but the fact that he had made her happy by getting his friend there fucking stirred his heart. Her sparkling smile did nothing good for his cock or his soul.

He slipped his hand into the pocket of his jeans and touched the dampness of her panties.

He couldn’t take her virginity because he didn’t know if he could let her go afterward, and it wasn’t a risk he was willing to take when it came to her.

Right now, he was fucking with fate.
