I nod, now understanding the gravity of what they were doing and the need for secrecy. "I get it. You had to maintain a facade to protect your covers. But it must have been tough, pretending to hate each other all the time."

Derek's expression softens. "It was, but we knew it was necessary. We had to make some sacrifices for the greater good."

A frown crosses my face as another thought occurs to me. “You will still need to maintain that until you sort those loose ends won't you?”

Tristan chuckles in response. “Just think of us as your own messed up personal love triangle, like something out of those smutty romance novels.”

Derek chuckles, reaching for his own coffee and taking a sip. "Well, it's not exactly your average love story, that's for sure."

I smirk, leaning back against the couch, emotions bubbling inside me. "No, definitely not your average love story. But I guess I've never been one for mundane and ordinary. That’s what they say about me after all, I’m the profiler with the penchant for the macabre and an affinity for murderers."

Tristan tilts his head, his gaze lingering on me with an intensity. "Good," he says, his voice low and husky. "We wouldn't want average. We want extraordinary. And you have always been that to us."

Derek nods in agreement, a serious look in his eyes. "We want you, all of you, just as you are. And we'll do whatever it takes to keep you. We were always destined to be together."

I take a deep breath. It's overwhelming, this connection I have with them. But it's also undeniably intoxicating.

I look into their eyes, realizing that despite their controlling and dangerous sides, they are also offering me something that I've secretly yearned for — a deep connection, an unconventional love that defies societal norms. And in a way, I've always been drawn to the darker aspects of life, to the enigmatic and complex personalities of those I've studied and profiled.

"I've always been drawn to the darkness," I admit, my voice softer now. "But with you two, it's different. You're the darkness I'm not afraid to embrace."

Tristan's hand finds mine, his grip gentle yet firm. "Then embrace it, Little Darling. Embrace all of us, like you were always meant to."

Derek leans down, his lips brushing against mine in a tender kiss. "We're not just random killers without an agenda, we're more than that. And so are you."

I close my eyes, savoring their touch and the emotions swirling inside me. It's complicated, messy, and uncertain, but at this moment, it feels right. I can't deny the pull they have on me, nor can I ignore the connection we share.

"So, what now?" I ask, my heart beating faster.

As if on cue, mine and Derek’s phones buzz. He just smiles at me, “That would be our signal. We have a new crime scene to look at and evil people to catch.” He reaches down and pulls me up from the couch so I’m standing in front of him.

I sigh and pick up the rest of my coffee to take with me. “This is going to be a long ass day.”

Tristan stays where he is, but gives me a little finger wave. “See you around, Little Darling.”

Derek leads me to his sleek black car parked outside, and as I slide into the passenger seat, I can't help but turn sideways to look at him all over. The intensity in his eyes sends a thrill down my spine, and a rush of desire and adrenaline courses through my veins. I know we have work to do, but I also can't deny the attraction between us.

He smirks, catching my gaze. "Like what you see?" he teases, his voice low and seductive.

I raise an eyebrow, a playful glint in my eyes. "Maybe I do," I reply, not bothering to hide my curiosity.

His hand reaches out, gently tracing the outline of my jaw, sending shivers down my spine. "You're quite distracting, you know," he says, his voice husky. “But we have work to do. Can't let ourselves get too distracted."

I nod, turning to face the front, trying to regain my composure. "Right, the crime scene."

Derek starts the engine and begins driving us to our destination. The atmosphere in the car is tense, and I find myself unable to resist stealing glances at Derek whenever I get the chance.

He notices my looks and smirks, "Something on your mind, Little Darling?" he asks.

I bite my lip, unable to hide my curiosity. "Just wondering how you can be both Derek, the FBI agent, and Dare, the ruthless killer. It's like you're two different people."

Derek's expression softens, and he reaches out to gently thread his fingers through mine and draw my hand to his lips. "I am two different people, but they're both parts of who I am. Derek protects and serves justice, while Dare deals with those who think they can escape it. It's a balancing act, but somehow, it works."

I listen to Derek's explanation. It's hard to wrap my head around the duality of it, but I've seen enough to know that it's not a facade or just a game they're playing. Derek and Tristan are both genuine in their own ways.

"You must have to compartmentalize a lot," I say, still trying to process the complexity of it. "It's like leading two separate lives."

Derek nods, his eyes fixed on the road. "It can be challenging at times, but I've been doing it for a long time. It's a necessary part of it, and we've become skilled at it."
