Within minutes, Matt lays out a beautiful dinner, complete with candles so we can see in the fading evening light.

We dig into the meal, our occasional silence easy and pleasant. But between hefty bites of the delicious spaghetti, we chat about our respective lives.

“Seriously? You’ve never been to that theme park? It’s just a few hours down the road. It’s got the fastest roller coaster in the world!”

Matt shakes his head and laughs, his mouth full of the pasta. “I love roller coasters, so I guess you’ll just have to take me.”

“Deal. But only if you agree to teach me how to use a bow and arrow.”

“I don’t know, Cora. You’re kind of clumsy.” He winks at me, enjoying my outrage.

“I am not clumsy!” I sputter, but then laugh good-naturedly.

“Yes, you are,” he says.

“Yes, I am,” I affirm at the same time and we both laugh again.

The whole evening is filled with light conversation and learning whatever we can about each other. We talk the night away until we each yawn, exhausted from the day. Matt and I make our way upstairs and crawl into my bed together, as if being together is second nature. We take off our warm robes and curl into one another, my curvy body fitting perfectly into his hard, muscled one. Soon, one thing leads to another, and his hot kisses are trailing over my body again. This time, Matt takes me to heaven and back again, like a maestro playing a violin. I sigh and sing, following this man wherever he leads.

The next morning, the sun is finally peeking through the clouds. I nudge Matt, excited by the prospect of a non-rainy day.

“Matt, hey, wake up!”

“What, what’s wrong, honey?” he asks sleepily.

“Nothing, but look – sunshine.” I tell him giddily, raising my eyebrows for effect.

Matt glances out the window and groans.

“You woke me up for sunshine?” he asks me grumpily. At my enthusiastic nodding, Matt sits up in bed. “That’s it, now you’re in trouble.”

I squeal gleefully when Matt grabs me and starts smacking my bare bottom playfully. “You’re perfect but I’m an old man who needs my beauty sleep,” he teases me between his good-humored attack.

“Mercy, mercy!” I cry out, laughing uncontrollably.

“Nice try.” With that, Matt pulls me firmly against him. “I need you,” he growls in my ear. And to my complete delight, he begins kissing me everywhere. Just when I don’t think I can stand it any longer, he slips his hard member inside me and I shudder with delight. I feel full and complete, as if this man has been a part of me forever. It’s a different kind of lovemaking from last night, because this time, we have the languid tranquility of morning.

A few minutes and two intense orgasms later, we lay sprawled out on the messy bed, the sun just a little higher in the sky.

“Well, I’m going back to sleep.” Matt winks at me so I toss a pillow at him.

“How do you feel about getting outside for a while? See what the world looks like beyond the cabin?” I smile coyly, hoping he’ll agree.

He sighs and then looks at me.

“It’s not a bad idea. Plus, we can see what kind of damage might have been done from the storm.”

I nod as I crawl out of bed. I hope that doesn’t mean he’ll be leaving, I muse as I pull out my clothes.

Matt watches me languidly from the bed. “Damn, that’s a beautiful woman in front of me. Bend over, sweetheart, and show me what you have.”

“Stop,” I quip back, pleased and blushing.

“No, I mean it. You’re fucking gorgeous Cora.” He springs out of bed and takes my clothes from hands. “Maybe you should get back in bed,” he raises his eyebrow cockily.

I giggle, loving his stamina. “I want to but I’m so hungry! And coffee – aromatic, morning coffee?” I grab my clothes and start backing away from Matt.

“Fine, truce.” He agrees, scooping up his own pants from the floor. “As long as you make the coffee.”

“Deal.”

Following a breakfast of strong coffee and scrambled eggs, Matt and I head out to inspect the storm damage and take a short hike.

The morning air, despite the brilliant sunlight, is crisp and cool, almost as if spring hasn’t reached this part of Appalachia just yet. I pull my jacket more tightly around me, grateful I opted to wear it and a thick flannel.

“The cars look okay,” Matt says as he walks around each one, inspecting them for damage. “I mean, I know we could tell from the window, but it’s nice to see up close.”

“Agreed,” I tell him, as I examine my old hatchback. “Do you think we should walk down the road a bit, and see how it looks?” I try not to let my disappointment seep into my voice. I secretly hope the road is blocked by tons of debris so Matt can’t leave.
