“Marc,” I whisper in a mix of desperation and pleasure.
“Yes, baby?” His lips hover dangerously close to mine. For a brief second, I think he’s going to kiss me. He’s going to break the very first rule I laid out on the table when we were making this deal. “What do you need?”
There's a small part of me that wants to feel his lips touch mine. I want to know what he tastes like. I want to get drunk on his whiskey infused breath that mixes with my champagne-flavored tongue. But I can’t allow it.
I pull myself back from the trance he managed to put me in.
“Well…” I release a breath I didn’t know I was holding. “I think you’ve got it down pat.”
He sits back in his chair, and I watch as he adjusts himself with a small grin on his face. A grin that I know is packed with so many different emotions. Surely, he’s feeling the same way I was feeling. There is no waywhateverthat was, was one sided.
Not only did he make me feel things.
He made me forget why I don’t want to feel things.
If he’s going to act like that the rest of the summer… I am so completely fucked.

Listen, I’m not intentionally avoiding my best friends. But dammit, they know me better than they know their favorite book, which says a lot.
Our “date” Saturday night left me feeling uneasy. I don’t ever fucking feel uneasy, and that’s left me shutting out my best friends. I can’t open up to them about something before I even know what it is.
The way Marc faked,whatever that was, for those few minutes had me feeling very real things.
There was nothing fake about the way my body reacted to him.
