His dad nodded, "We'll meet you at the Evans’ farm."

"Sounds good." He turned to Everleigh, who grinned, then began striding to her car. He stared for a minute, because, damn, she looked great in those jeans. He turned and hopped in his truck as the others were loading themselves into vehicles.

The ride to the farm was short. Less than two miles as he clocked it now. That would make it easy when he needed to join his team for work assignments. Which reminded him...He tapped his phone and scrolled to find Spencer's name.

"Miss me already?"

Henry laughed. "Yes. Can you tuck me in tonight?"

Spencer laughed on the other end of the phone. "Of course, baby. Should I sing you a lullaby too?"

Henry continued chuckling. "Hey, I'd like some security set up on the farm. Can you work on that with me?"

"Of course. When we get there, let's walk around and you can show me where you want cameras set up."

"Perfect. Thanks, Spence."

Things ran through his mind faster than he could gather them right now. Thank goodness he had great support. How many times had he thought that, just today?

He stopped in front of the house. Everleigh pulled her car in alongside his truck and he grinned at her out the window. Her smile lit the sky. It made his heart race. From the outside watching, it likely looked like he'd never had a girlfriend before.

Jumping from his vehicle, he pulled his duffel and Everleigh's suitcase from the back and clumped up the steps to the porch. Everleigh stood next to him.

Glancing down at her, his lips turned up into a smile, "Ready?"

"Ready."

He turned the key in the lock, for the first time as a homeowner. Surreal.

Waiting for Everleigh to walk in first, he followed with their luggage.

"So, first things first, we'll need a way to mark what furniture is staying. The rest is up for grabs to the others."

Everleigh turned her head and stared up into his eyes. Her pretty lips turned down into a slight frown. "I'm afraid I'm not going to be good at this. I don't know a thing about design. Furniture. Pictures. None of it."

She hated feeling inadequate. Her parents expected perfection from her and her sister and here she was, her first day as a girlfriend and she was failing.

The hard knot that formed in her throat threatened to suffocate her. She stared into Henry's eyes, waiting for the disapproval. That sickening look that her father gave her when she was less than perfect. His brows bunched together and that hateful pinch of skin between his brows that always seemed to stick out when he was angry.

Instead, Henry leaned down and kissed her forehead. "Should I ask my mom to come in and help out? After all, she and Sophie designed the HOG."

Relief flooded her body, and she allowed her shoulders to relax. "That would be awesome."

He chuckled. "We've got this Ev. Even if we don't do all the work for our place, we have a support system beyond all support systems."

She swallowed the emotion that raced up her throat. Blinking furiously so her tears didn't spill down her cheeks and nodded. "I've always had to rely on myself. It'll take me a minute to get used to this."

"You take the time you need. I'll be right here with you."

He kissed her forehead once again then turned toward the door and called out to his mom. "Mom, can you come in a minute?"

"Sure."

Henry stepped back and held the door for his mom. The second she stepped inside her eyes darted between her and Henry.

Henry took the lead, which she was grateful for. The last thing she wanted to do was break down in Roxanne's arms two days in a row.
