"I don't have words."

He swallowed the lump in his throat.

She stepped to him and wrapped an arm around his waist. "It looks completely different."

The windows were clean and the light that filtered in made everything sparkle.

"It does."

His mom chuckled. "There's more."

With Everleigh's hand in his, his mom led them up the staircase to the second level. The stairs had been wiped down and the wood gleamed as they ascended them. At the top landing, his mom turned left and led them to the master bedroom.

She stepped inside and smiled brightly. Sophie was just finishing up dusting the windowsill across the room. She turned and grinned as they stepped inside.

His mom nodded. "Sophie and I found pieces of furniture in other rooms and mixed and matched until we liked these together."

Sophie laughed. "Don't ask how many times we've moved things around."

Everleigh chuckled but was otherwise as speechless as he was. It was stunning. The ornate headboard was an antique white which had been sanded at one time to show the wood through.

"We found the headboard in another room. It was attached to the wall, but we thought it worked better in here. That room, however, will need to wait to have its day."

Everleigh touched the comforter on the bed, her brows furrowed together. "This is new."

"It is." His mom chuckled. "Some things need to be new. Bedding is a thing for me. So, this is all courtesy of Sophie and Gaige."

He turned and saw Sophie's smile, and he instantly went to her and wrapped her in a hug. "Thank you, Sophie. For everything. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it."

She squeezed him back. "The look on your face is payment enough. I'm happy to help out."

Everleigh swallowed. "Thank you, Sophie. This is amazing."

The comforter was a deep blue with a slight sheen to it. The contrast to the headboard was remarkable.

The dresser gleamed. The dark wood stood against the far wall from the bed and on either side of the bed were small round tables with delicate lamps perched on top.

He scraped his hand through his hair. "I'm simply overwhelmed."

His mom and Sophie laughed and high-fived each other. "It's not often we make our children speechless."

"Yeah." Was all he could say.

They continued their tour of the house. Not all of the rooms had been cleaned, but the women promised to be here for the weekend to clean and get them set up for success here.

The kitchen had been scrubbed and currently Isabella and Yvette were scrubbing the cupboards as Helissa cooked. The aromas wafted around the house, and she smelled a clean environment and fresh baked bread. Her mouth watered. She couldn't remember the last time she had fresh bread straight from the oven.

Henry swallowed as he looked at everything that had been done. The women chatted and giggled, and the home felt just like that. A home. People were happy here, and she hoped that would continue. Henry spoke to his friends and she stepped closer to Helissa. "Thank you for all you've done today."

"You are welcome. I'm happy to help out."

Everleigh nodded. "Would you be willing to teach me how to cook?"

"Really? I would love that. I can come here one day a week and we'll make meals. Is that good for you?"

"It's good." Her bottom lip began to quiver, and her eyes filled with tears. How could there be so many good people in one small place?
