"This is perfect out here."

Henry's mouth was full of food so he simply nodded. Once he'd swallowed his food he said, "You were right about this."

The door opened and Roxanne stepped out. "We're sorry to make you come out here."

Henry laughed. "Don't be. Look at our view."

Roxanne looked out into the pasture and stared for a moment. She eventually sat on the top step and watched the horses just as they were doing. "Wow, this is wonderful, Henry."

He grinned. "I know. It's perfect."

Roxanne glanced at her. "Do you like it, Everleigh?"

"I do. Absolutely."

Henry watched Everleigh as she took care of Queenie's wounds. He, for his part, checked each stall door to ensure they were all closed. He grinned at Harper. "Sorry for the extra lock Harper, but your escape skills have to be tamed."

Harper bobbed her head and snorted in disapproval. He chuckled and moved on. He checked the tack room once again, enjoying the way it looked with the harnesses and bridles neatly lined up on the wooden pegs.

"You did a great job in here." Everleigh praised.

"Thanks. I like how it turned out."

Everleigh turned and looked down the length of the barn and he did the same. "It's surreal."

She shook her head. "That's an understatement."

They chuckled, stared in awe and, at least for his part, enjoyed this moment. It was finally quiet.

"Are we sleeping in the house or out here tonight?"

Her head tilted up, her eyes stared into his. "Do you mind if we sleep in the house? I'm simply exhausted and these ladies make a fair amount of noise."

He laughed. "No, I don't mind and yes they do."

"I think they seem settled enough. They've had a busy day too."

"Dr. Zsidai will stop out in the morning to check them all over. I think she'll be happy."

"I do too. I'm excited to see her reaction."

He chuckled, turned, and took Everleigh's hand in his. "Good night, ladies. Sleep tight."

Everleigh giggled and a couple of the horses snorted. He turned off the light in the tack room. Everleigh stepped out the man door of the barn, and he followed her, locking it up after them. They strolled hand in hand toward the house, and though there was still work to do, he was excited about the progress made today. By the end of the weekend, which was four more days, it would be unrecognizable. But, in a good way.

They entered the house, the aromas from today's food still lingered in the air. "Smells good in here." He absently stated.

"It does."

Everleigh sighed. "I'm going to go up and take a shower, if that's alright."

"Of course, it is. This is your house too."

She shrugged slightly and he knew it would take some time for her to feel comfortable here. Part of him worried she'd grow bored in a few months. She was used to picking up and going somewhere new after each job. Her job here was nearly settled and he wondered how she'd handle not packing up and moving again.

The water in the shower turned on and he wandered to the kitchen and pulled a beer from the refrigerator. He'd join her in the shower, but he was dog-ass tired. She was too. They'd worked their tails off today.
