“He wouldn’t say anything to you. You’re his mate,” he says.

“You’re a dragon?” I snort.

“So?”

“Whatever,” I mutter. “My headache isn’t getting any better.”

“You should quit talking,” he suggests.

“Bishop,” I growl.

“Fine, geez, cranky in the morning.”

“Bishop, shut it,” I hiss.

The drive had been blissfully silent. Now I felt bad that I snapped at him. He follows me into the office, not looking offended in the least.

“Where the fuck have you been?” Quinn growls.

“At home. Why?” I ask.

“I’ve been trying to reach you,” he says.

“Sorry, I didn’t have my phone yesterday. What did you need?” I ask, leaning on the front desk. Bishop wanders around the room, looking at the art on the wall.

“I thought you quit?” Quinn asks.

“Excuse me?” I ask, standing.

“Your mate stopped by and informed me that you were no longer working here.”.

“Fucker. I take back my kind words about his cock,” I whisper furiously.

“What?” Quinn and Bishop ask at the same time.

“Nevermind, when did he do this?” I ask.

“Yesterday, he told me about the messages. He accused me of not taking care of you properly,” Quinn sneers.

“I did not quit.”

“Are you sure?” Quinn asks.

“Of course, I’m sure,” I say. “Why wouldn’t I be?” I asked with narrowed eyes.

“You have a lot going on right now. Maybe it would be a good idea to take a break,” he suggests. He hurries to continue when I glare. “Just a break until whoever is sending the messages is taken care of.”

I study his worried face. It would be the smart thing to do. “Can I still use my office?” I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket.

“Of course,” Quinn says.

“Bishop, why don’t you go get us some food. I have some paperwork to do,” I say.

“What do you want?” Bishop asks.

“Surprise me.”
