“I want you to come to Texas with me,” I say, unsure of how what I was going to say would be received.

“Texas?”

I nod, swallowing the threat of emotions I don’t understand myself.

“Jinx’s brother is getting married. They had some bad stuff happen in their town, and they’d feel more comfortable if some of us guys were in attendance.”

“Is it dangerous?”

I lean into the press of her hand on my chest.

“No. It’s a small sleepy little town, that just somehow ended up on the wrong group’s radar. I wouldn’t invite you if I thought you were in danger.”

I say this with confidence because there’s confirmation that Raul Cortez has been killed, his entire organization broken up and dismantled.

“I have a lot of orders.”

I tilt her chin up. “I love how dedicated you are to your work, but you need breaks too, remember?”

She nods. “When is it?”

“Two weeks from yesterday,” I answer. “I’ve seen your schedule. I think you can manage a long weekend so long as you don’t take more orders.”

“I’m not going to turn down orders,” she argues, the stubborn streak making me want to kiss her until it’s gone, but then I know I’ll miss the fire in her eyes.

“Let them know you have that weekend off.”

I step in closer to her, pressing my renewed erection against her lower belly.

“You’re not fighting fair,” she says, her mouth hanging open when I bend my knees and roll my hips against her center.

“I know.”

“I’ll go with you on one condition,” she barters. “Do that thing you did last night.”

“What thing?”

Her cheeks flame once again.

“That thing you did with your tongue and fingers.”

I swear I could come on her wet skin.

That thing being sucking her clit into my mouth while teasing both her pussy and her ass at the same time.

“My pleasure,” I say, loving the way she squeals with excitement when I pick her up and carry her out of the bathroom.

She didn’t exactly choose option two, the one where I make her scream so the others in the clubhouse know she’s mine, but that’s exactly what she ended up with.

Chapter 31

Devyn

“If you keep wiggling like that…” There’s a hint of warning in his tone, but the punishment he’s hinting at is something I can’t ever get enough of, so the threat falls flat.

“I’m cold,” I complain, sweeping my hand up his thigh and barely brushing the side of his morning erection.

“You’re a damn furnace. How are you cold?”

I snuggle deeper, loving the rumble of his chest and the way he presses his palm to my back, pulling me closer.

Unable to resist, I lift my leg and throw it over the top of his, grinding myself against his thigh. He doesn’t say a word, but his hand on my back moves lower, a single finger tracing my ass cheek.

I’m certain this man could do anything he pleases to my body, and I’d only ask for more after I caught my breath.

It’s been two weeks of us making love, two weeks of waking up in his arms because he warned me the first night that if I stayed in his bed, he’d never let me leave.

I don’t know if he knew it or not, but I needed that reassurance. I needed him to tell me he wanted me there because I would’ve felt awkward if he hadn’t. I would’ve gotten lost in my head wondering if I was wearing out my welcome. He either needs me beside him just as much or he’s an expert at reading me and knowing exactly what I need.

There have been no hiccups, not one moment where I look over at him and think he’s not happy. He’s always smiling, always wanting to touch me in some way, even if it’s to simply pull me to his side.

Despite him marching me through the clubhouse after our trip to Denver, he hasn’t faltered in showing me attention in front of the other Cerberus members. He didn’t shy away when Kincaid came into the living room and I was sitting on his lap. Kincaid simply smiled at the two of us, wrapped his arm around his smiling wife, and continued the conversation he was having with Shadow. It was proof of his approval. I didn’t know how much I needed that from Em either. She’s been more like a mother to me than I can ever recall my own being, but she’s like that with a lot of us here.

After speaking with several of the others, the lost and looking for a family seems to be a theme. Khloe had no one decades ago when Kid found her. Even Em had to have Kincaid step in when she was being abused by her ex-husband.

Cerberus has provided a loving and nurturing family, and they ask nothing in return other than being respectful and caring to the next person who needs their help. There are no ulterior motives here. These people aren’t building trust just so they can manipulate people. I feel like I found the tribe I’ve always been meant to find.
