“Why would anyone be following us in the first place?” Alice asked, her dark blonde brows furrowing in concern. "What do they want?"
“You, most likely,” Hatter told her, his voice ominous. “Someone must’ve told the Red Queen that you’re here. If it was the shy Violet, I’ll kill her myself!”
“I’d bet my soul that it was Dinah,” I whispered, opening my eyes to take a cautious look around.
“Don’t be absurd, Chess,” Hatter hissed. “You’re a demon! You have no soul!”
Ignoring him, I shook my head.
“Dinah’s been pretending to be Alice’s friend for years,” I explained. “She’s been feeding her blue pills to make her forget her connection to Wonderland.”
Hatter cast me a skeptical glance.
“Blue pills? Are you sure about that?”
Alice stopped walking and turned around to face Hatter and me.
“Dude, I barfed one up right after I got here, and it turned into a giant worm and started crawling!”
