She glanced over her shoulder, eyeing her friend. I followed her over to check on Trippy, who was already having her injury healed by a member of the Rabbit Hole staff. Sure enough, the gaping wound in her side was gone. Her skin was being patched up by gentle currents of barely visible energy.

“Are you okay?”

Trippy glowered up at me.

“Go suck on a hookah, new bitch!”

“Awesome,” I replied without missing a beat. “Fuck you, too!”

I turned on my heel and wandered to the edge of the ring where Ransom was already waiting for me. My heart did a backflip when I caught his proud smile.

“Look at you, making friends already,” he teased.

“Not her,” I said, thumbing over my shoulder at Trippy. “Talk about an ungrateful cow.”

“She’s angry that you made her look weak,” he shrugged as he climbed into the ring with me and the last remaining bunnies. “Let’s see what the audience thought of your performance.”

He motioned to three platforms that were positioned in the center of the ring where Trippy and Dickface’s blood had been. Then he joined the referee as the guests of the Rabbit Hole voted on the best fighter.

First place went to one of the biggest boy bunnies, who’d taken out almost a quarter of the competition on his own. Second place went to Trippy, for her leadership skills, which I thought was a crock of shit.

I held my breath as third place was announced, and was shocked to hear it go to Caramel for her ability to work with others.

I bit down on my lip, clapping weakly with everyone else.

It should’ve gone tome!

I’m the one who saved Trippy from Dickface. I should’ve gotten a podium! But no...I was the new girl. The awards all went to familiar faces.

“Congratulations,” Ransom said to me, draping a thick black sash across my shoulder.

“For what?” I asked above the cheers and clapping.

“The audience just awarded you Bunny of the Day.” He adjusted my sash, then lifted my arm to make me wave at the crowd gathered around the ring. I felt his breath fall against my neck as he lowered his head to whisper in my ear.

“And I’ve just awarded you Bunny of the Evening.”

ChapterSix

RANSOM

I reveled in Alice's mix of anticipation, excitement, and trepidation as I clipped on her leash and fastened her wrist cuffs back together. Although I hadn’t expected her to take a podium, I was thrilled that she’d won “Bunny of the Day” in the Bunny Bondage Games.

I hadn’t made it easy for her, but the sinners of Wonderland had spoken.

They were just as dazzled by her fire as I was.

True, I had to push her in the right direction, but that’s what training was all about. She fought so viciously to win, yet it completely surprised me that she could still be merciful.

Now it was time for herrealreward.

Me.

I led her through the maze of black hallways, designed to look exactly the same so she wouldn’t be able to escape without help. I pushed open the door to my bedroom...my sanctuary, and brought her into the heart of my kingdom.

This was where I truly came alive.
