Outrage clouds his usually clear blue eyes. “Now I know why Isaac constantly wants to pinken your cute little ass when you drop these truth bombs, Dangerous Girl. I feel like my blood pressure is through the roof right now,” he grumbles.

“You’re much too young for that,” I joke, yelping as he lunges forward to nip at my nose with his teeth.

“Do you feel up to going to class today? I noticed you weren’t steady on your feet yet,” Grayson says conversationally as I wince.

“Is there a reason we’re having a conversation with my patient in the bathroom?” Patricia calls out, and I cringe.

“Ugh,” I groan, hopping off the counter. I feel better now that I’m awake, and I pad barefoot into the infirmary, with the Warden stalking after me.

“How are you feeling?” Patricia asks, hiding her smile as I flush in embarrassment. Nothing like feeling as if you were caught doing something you weren’t.

“I woke up a little dizzy, but it’s getting better,” I report, getting into bed obediently when she shoos me back onto it.

“Hmmm. I think that was the stress of the day, do you want to hide in here instead of going to class?” the nurse asks, ignoring the exasperated look that Grayson gives her because we were just discussing this in the bathroom.

Patricia’s shoulders tremble slightly with repressed laughter as she checks my blood pressure and vitals.

“Silla, it’s up to you, but I need to tell you something about the… your instructors,” Grayson corrects, the tips of his ears turning a bit red. Realizing he was going to call them The Fucked up Trio, I bite my lip to hold back my smile at his indiscretion. “I went to pay the three of them a visit last night to discuss the gross lack of respect for the camp’s rules they showed, as well as the juvenile way they chose to put a target on your back. None of them dug deeper into the information they were collecting, which led to shoddy work, and yesterday’s shit show.”

“Okay… I feel as if there’s more to this,” I mutter.

The Warden’s eyes drop to the blanket covering me, and I know I’m not going to like whatever he’s going to say next.

“Silla… I don’t want this to happen again—“

“And it’s not, because I put the fear of the Gods into Andrya last night,” Isaac states, slipping through the door of the infirmary to come sit next to me.

The three of us narrow our eyes at him, because nothing good can come from those words.

“Isaac,” Grayson groans, rubbing his forehead as if he’s about to get a headache.

“Pause,” I say loudly, holding up a hand. “Gray, tell me about what you did first, and then we’ll talk about how damn overprotective you both are.”

Huffing, I lean back into the pillows now that the nurse is done with me. Patricia shakes her head, eyeing me.

“You’re in over your head with those two,” she murmurs. “Good luck. I’m going to go grab you some breakfast. These two may tie you to the bed and not let you leave.”

“We wouldn’t do that in the infirmary, Patricia,” Grayson scoffs before grunting in defeat. “Please don’t say anything, we’re doing our best to keep things under wraps.”

“It’s not obvious unless you’re in a high stress situation,” the nurse reassures him. “I never want this young lady in this situation again.”

Patricia must be twice my age, but she’s never made me feel inferior, the way my own mother does.

“Yes, Ma’am,” the Warden says softly. “It appears that both Isaac and I are working on that.”

The nurse slips out of the room, and Grayson faces me. “Okay, first things first…”

“Don’t call you, Gray? I was surprised and won’t do it again,” I grimace.

Shaking his head, he chuckles. “Patricia won’t say anything. Isaac and I both showered you with so much worry, she’d be blind not to know. I know you’re careful in public. When I spoke to the Trio, I made a point of telling them that the only way to move forward from this incident is for them to spend one on one time with you,” Grayson begins.

A shiver runs over my spine, and my legs draw closer to my body. “There are few things they’d ever want to do with me, and I thought I made it clear earlier, I’m not a whore,” I scoff.

Growling, the Warden rips away the blanket on me, picking me up before he clambers into the space I was in. “Lock the door for me, Isaac, I don’t want to be interrupted,” he says.

Beginning to struggle, my fear ramps up. I don’t know why, I shouldn’t be scared of him. Grayson grabs my face, forcing me to meet his eyes. “I will never hurt you again, Silla Tremaine. Everything I do is to keep you safe. I may not deserve you, but you have me anyway, is that understood?”

“Yes, Sir,” I whisper.
