“I’m telling you, Nay, I’m the nigga for you. You’ll never have to worry about shit as long as I’m around.”

“Milo.”

“I got you. I got us. We’ll forever be good.”

“Milo.”

“Say yes tonight, Nay.”

Nodding, I allowed my emotions to spill over into my verbiage. “Y-Yes.”

“Yes?”

“It was always yes. You just took so fucking long to ask,” I choked. “Made me wait all this time. I could just hit you right now. What took you so long?”

Smiling, he slid the ring onto my finger, right on top of the other one. I thought it would collapse from the weight. The combination was massive.

“I’m sorry about that, baby. I promise to never make that mistake again. No more waiting.”

“No more waiting,” I cried. “Milo, it’s beautiful.”

“You have to pull it together, baby. We have a photographer and shit. I don’t want you trying to beat my ass because your makeup smeared on every picture he snaps.”

He knew me so well.

“Okay. Okay. Oh my God, baby. I’m going to be a wife.”

Still in shock, I stared at the rings, tears still falling.

“Not just a wife, baby. My wife. That’s a big fucking flex.”

Nodding, I agreed.

“God, I have to get it together.”

“Cry it out, baby. We can wait right here. When you’re ready, we’re rolling, but not until you say the word.”

“I don’t want to wait,” I blubbered.

“Huh?”

“I don’t want to wait. I don’t want to wait anymore. I don’t want to wait to marry you, Milo.”

“Then you won’t have to.”

“I’m serious, baby.”

“You have no fucking idea how serious I am, Nature. It’s whatever you want, love.”

“Thank you.”

Leaning over, I grabbed both sides of his face and pulled him closer so that I could taste his lips and tongue.

“Can I put a ring on it, now?” I sniggered through a tearful smile.

“Whatever you want to do, Nature.”

“I don’t want to go into the new year as Dr. Dupree.”
