Page 14 of Resisting Allie

Before she could ask what those reasons might be, a strident cry drew her gaze across the hall to the other window.“Oh!”she exclaimed softly, seeing into the room designed as an office. “They’re not shy, are they?” The blonde sprawled atop the desk wearing black-framed glasses looked uncomfortable with her handcuffed hands behind her neck and holding onto the man fucking her with both her legs wrapped around his lower back.

“No, most aren’t. There are a few who enjoy watching but prefer to take their play someplace private. Everyone...”

“What the hell are you doing, Reed?”

Brett’s deep, annoyed voice snagged Allie’s attention off the couple and drew her head around to face his thundercloud expression. Her heart went pitter-patter at seeing him again, the same as last week and when she’d watched his television interview last year. She had it bad for a man she barely knew and who wanted nothing to do with her, yet neither fact seemed to deter her from pursuing whatever attention she could get from him.

Pasting on a wide smile, she worked to get her libido under control, ignoring his displeasure to give him a weak greeting. “Hi, again.”

He surprised her by tugging her hand away from Reed’s light grip with a glare toward his brother. “Explain.”

“Don’t use that clipped tone with me,” Reed returned, his voice harder than she’d heard before. “We’re equal partners in this place, and I can bring a guest without your permission.”

Allie didn’t want to cause trouble and stepped between them, laying a placating hand on Brett’s broad chest. He still wore his hat, which shaded his eyes, but his heart thumped wildly beneath her palm, giving her the courage to push her case. “Since you don’t want Reed to show me around, you can finish my tour. What’s down here?” Taking a step toward the next room, she kept her fingers crossed Brett would cave.

“We’ll discuss this later,” he told Reed, tightening his hand on her elbow.

“Can’t wait.” Reed winked at Allie and strode back into the gathering room.

A few seconds later, Allie heard the door close and held her breath. Keeping her eyes on Brett’s face, she was tempted to see if she could loosen his tight lips with hers but thought that might push her luck too far. When he finally spoke, his words eased her tense shoulders.

“What the hell am I going to do with you? Never mind, don’t answer that.” He pointed to the closed door she hadn’t seen behind yet. “That room is for anyone who prefers privacy after watching and socializing.”

Allie nodded toward the couple in the office. “Did they expect the place to themselves, or do you know?”

“We’re well acquainted with everyone we’ve invited to use this space. The door is unlocked when we open Casey’s and locked when everyone leaves. Other than when we host a party, our friends plan their own time and uses of this space and equipment. Stacey and Aaron won’t mind us watching if you want to linger before I walk you out.”

As much as she longed to drag this out now Brett was here, there wasn’t anything left to explore unless she chose to try one of the apparatus. She wondered if she could get up the nerve then looked from Stacey’s face as Aaron assisted her off the table, to Brett. A surprising longing to see him gazing at her with that same expression of proud satisfaction squeezed past her hesitation in how far to take this odd infatuation.

Going for the gold, she asked him, “What if I want to try something, you know, see if this is my thing or not?”

Allie expected Brett to tell her to forget it, but instead, he studied her face for so long, she grew uncomfortable under his probing stare. That didn’t prevent her nipples from beading into tight pinpoints, or her head from conjuring up all kinds of fantasy kinks she possessed no clue about. When he spoke, it wasn’t what she wanted to hear.

“I’m not into wasting my time with young girls who get bored easily.” He clasped her hand and tugged her toward the main room. “If you’re that curious, try Legends, in Casper. I can ask the owner to give you a guest pass. Just be as careful there as you would going to any club. Legends has a good reputation for safety, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to be on your guard. You’re a vulnerable young woman no matter where you go to socialize or party, or in what manner.”

“Ah, you do care.” Beaming at his broad back, she couldn’t help feeling pleased with his concern, even if he was trying to steer her interest elsewhere.

Opening the door, he turned to face her. “Keep it up, Allie, and I’ll prove I’m not a man you can dally with.”

She skipped down the stairs behind him, gaze glued to his broad, tense back, ears attuned to his stern voice. Yet, his firm hold on her hand remained gentle, the callouses prickling her palm in a pleasant way. She couldn’t remember the last time a guy had held her hand. Whether it was plain orneriness or a reluctance to let this chance slip by that prompted her to continue teasing him was up for debate, later.

“I’m game. Prove it.”

Stopping abruptly at the foot of the stairs, he spun around and glared at her. Allie’s pulse went haywire with excitement and a touch of uncertainty as his stormy gaze swung to the redwood circular seating around a huge unlit fire pit backed by dark woods. She went damp imagining the kinks they could indulge in outdoors but admitted watching people engage in sexual activity and participating in those acts herself were two entirely different things. Brett pivoted, and she ignored the nagging part of her brain that was always telling her to slow down, think before she leapt, that sort of nonsense, hoping he was about to put his hands on her.

After taking one step toward the bench, though, he stopped and cursed. “Fuck, what am I thinking?” he muttered.

“I don’t know, tell me,” she prodded, her voice breathless.

Shaking his head, he startled her by swatting her butt with his free hand, one hard spank that stalled her breath as he spun and led her toward the parking lot. “That was just a sampling. Go home, Allie.”

A sampling? That one whack left a warm tingle across her cheek, a response that drew a tight clutch of dampness between her legs. Too bad his stubbornness put a cold damper on it.

“Has anyone told you you’re no fun?” She pouted up at him as he rounded the side of the building.

Brett huffed a rueful laugh. “No one whose opinion mattered. Where did you park – never mind, I see it.”

Allie gave up, refusing to waste time with one man when there were so many others. Too bad no one else had grabbed her interest to the point of throwing caution to the wind and common sense out the door the way Brett had. But she would get over it, and him, eventually. She’d finally thrown away the newspaper picture of him on her refrigerator, which was a start. Thinking of more ways she could achieve that goal, she wasn’t prepared for his abrupt stop followed by low curses, his hand tightening on hers.
