If it were only that easy.

When I read her decree, I honestly thought this was my chance at redemption. That the gods had forgiven me for what I had done and were offering me the one thing I always wanted—her.

Shame on me for having forgotten that she was always what Levi wanted too.

Chapter 30

Teodoro

Fifteen Years Old

With my lips pressed against hers, I feel like heaven itself is shining down on me.

I have wanted to kiss Princess Katrina of Bratsk since before I even knew what kisses were for.

My heart thumps rapidly in my chest just having her in my arms, but it’s her kiss that really pushes me over the edge. My body responds to her innocent touch, sending it aflame with a need I’ve never experienced before. I groan at the way she presses her chest to mine, how her sweet flower scent invades my senses.

It’s too much for me to take.

All too soon do lurid images of laying her down on the gazebo floor and taking more from her than just a simple kiss slither their way inside my head. But if she is to be my wedded wife, then I must treat her like the precious northern rose she is.

Begrudgingly, I break our kiss, and when I open my eyes, it’s not Katrina’s face I find, but Atlas staring at us.

“Shit. I have to go,” I curse out when Atlas bolts from the garden. I take off running after the little fucker.

“Wait! Teo!” Katrina shouts from behind me.

“I’ll be back, kitten! Just stay here and wait for me,” I yell back, even more pissed with the tinge of confusion and hurt I heard in her voice when she called out my name.

Today is the day that I’m going to wring Atlas’s little neck!

I run as fast as I can out of the garden and through the castle halls, praying he’s not gotten too far. Thankfully, the gods show me mercy and two minutes later, I’m on his heel.

“Atlas! Atlas!” I shout from behind him, but the little prick raises his middle finger at me and keeps on running.

Curse the gods.

“Damn it, Atlas! Will you stop already? You weren’t supposed to see that back there,” I rush to explain as I continue to run after him.

“Well, I did, asshole,” he yells back before taking a corner and disappearing from my sight.

Fuck.

My legs are starting to burn, yet I keep on him.

“By the gods, Atlas, when did you get to be faster than me?” I joke when my eyes land on him again, thinking that maybe if I inflate his fragile ego a bit, it will make him forgive and forget.

“Fuck off, Teo!” he shouts, never losing speed.

This fucker.

For a sick little dipshit, he sure is fast when he wants to be.

I guess rage can do that to a person, give them the adrenaline they need to overcome any obstacle. But by the gods, he will not get the best of me.

“What are you going to do, Atlas? Don’t do something stupid,” I demand, worried that in his fury, Atlas will do something we’ll both regret.

“What do you think I’m going to do?” he yells with a snarl. “I’m going to tell her father!”
