“Truer words have never been spoken. You are definitelymore.”

His giddy reaction is oddly confusing.

And then I remember who I’m dealing with.

This must be a game.

With Teo, everything is.

Not wanting to play into whatever game he’s playing, I turn my back to him again, and wave him off.

“As I’ve said, I’m tired. Please leave.”

“Yeah, well, I’m not leaving this room until you’ve eaten. So…”

Argh! Damn the gods and his arrogance!

“Hmm, then we find ourselves at an impasse,” I retort.

“That we do. What are we to do?” he jokes, as if he’s getting a kick out of our whole hostile interaction.

I pick up a peach from the fruit bowl on top of one of the various tables in the room and turn around. Staring him dead in the eye, I take a huge bite into it, the peach’s juices dripping down my neck, slipping to my chest. But I don’t care. I continue to take bite after bite, trying not to moan out with how delicious the ripe fruit actually is. I guess after a whole day of fasting, anything would taste good. After I’ve eaten the whole damn thing, leaving only the pit, I throw it at him.

Teo catches it easily enough in his hands.

“There? I’ve eaten. Satisfied?”

Teo licks his lips, his gaze drawn to the indent of my breasts where the peach’s juices are slowly traveling to.

“Satisfaction is not the right word I would use, but I am pleased, just the same.”

“Good. Then we’re done here? You can go,” I command, my spine ramrod straight.

He bites the corner of his lips again and starts eating the space between us. I take a step back but stop when my ass hits the table behind me. His hungry gaze lingers on my chest before it meets my eyes.

“Tomorrow, you break your fast with me. If not,” he rasps, his finger brushing ever so lightly on my chest, enough to wipe away a drop of the sweet nectar I’m covered in. “I’ll come back here and force you to put in your mouth whatever tasty treat I’ve prepared for you.” He then steps away, sucking on his finger before taking it out of his mouth with a loud pop. “Do we understand ourselves, Your Majesty?”

Fury prevents me from uttering a word.

“Good. Sweet dreams, kitten.” He winks, then proceeds to prance out of the room with that damn smirk on his face.

“Before I leave the south, I’m going to smack that smug smile off your face,” I warn him.

He turns around and gives me an exaggerated bow.

“How I look forward to it, my queen.”

The next day, sadness isn’t the only thing that occupies my thoughts.

Hate plays a big part on them as well.

With Anya and Inessa walking behind me, I let Teo’s servant lead us outside to where I’ve been blackmailed to break my fast. Teo is already there waiting for me.

Again, he’s wearing all white, his sleeveless shirt mostly unbuttoned, showing off his toned physique.

“There you are. I was having doubts that you wouldn’t show up like I asked. I don’t know if I should be happy or disappointed,” he says, all smiles.

“Your mood is of no concern to me. Be happy. Be disappointed. It’s all the same to me.”
