My mom’s eyes went wide as she giggled. “All that in ten hours? Sounds to me like you’re going to be even worse than her dad, which is quite a feat.”

“Well, then.” My dad tucked my mom into his side and grinned at Kurt. “I guess I was right to trust you with my baby girl if you’re going to follow in my footsteps.”

“It figures his overprotective act would be the thing to finally impress you,” my mom accused, crossing her arms over her chest.

“You’ve got it all wrong, baby,” my dad protested, brushing his lips against her temple. “I never would’ve walked her down that aisle if I wasn’t already impressed.”

“Uh-huh, sure you wouldn’t.”

If my mom knew the lengths Kurt had gone to protect me, she wouldn’t have been quite so skeptical. But Vincent’s death was club business, and I hadn’t even been given all the details. Not that I needed them. What Kurt had been able to tell me was enough to know that I would’ve walked down the aisle to him all by myself both times we’d gotten married if I’d had to.

EPILOGUE

PATCH

“What am I going to do?” Willa wailed.

The genuine distress in her voice had me rushing down the hall to burst into our bedroom and find out what was upsetting her. But as I reached the door, I stopped in my tracks when she said, “I can’t tell him! I can’t!”

What the fuck?

Fear spurned inside me, but not because I thought for one second that Willa was cheating on me or anything ridiculous like that. It might piss me off when other men ogled my wife, but I’d eventually realized that Willa didn't even notice. She had no idea how damn beautiful she was unless I was the one telling her. Then she would blush that pretty pink shade I loved.

The reason I was worried was because she was keeping something from me, and with the exception of some club shit, my wife and I didn’t have secrets between us. If she didn’t want to tell me, then it was bound to be something terrible. Was she sick?

I took a deep breath and reached for the doorknob, only to halt again when I heard her groan. “Don’t you remember last time? Alyssa, he was even worse with Phoenix than he was with Arrow! Good grief, woman! I can’t go through another eight months of that!”

A giant smile spread across my face when I realized what Willa was talking about. She was pregnant again.

I mentally rolled my eyes at her dramatics. Yeah, I’d probably gone a little overboard with my protectiveness when she was carrying our sons, but I hadn’t been that bad…okay, maybe I could lighten up.

“Maybe I could go stay with my parents for a few—”

Fuck that. The kids were with her parents, so we would be uninterrupted while we discussed this.

I burst through the door, and Willa shrieked, jumping a foot away from where she’d been standing. The expression on my face must have clued her in because she whispered, “Gotta go.”

Alyssa said something else, and Willa glared at her cell phone. “I hope Bear locks you in a padded room the next time you get pregnant,” she grumbled, then hung up.

I stalked toward her, and she backed up until she was pressed against the wall.

“Are you pregnant, Willa?”

She squeaked and pressed her lips together, her eyes darting around as if searching for something to distract me. Then she sighed. “You obviously already figured it out.”

I collared her neck with one hand and splayed the palm of the other over her belly. “Willa, I want to hear you tell me. We do not keep secrets from each other.”

Guilt flashed across her face, and her shoulders sagged with defeat. “You’re right. Yes, I’m pregnant, but you can’t be like you—”

I covered her mouth with mine, cutting off whatever she’d been about to say. “Pregnant,” I mumbled against her lips in wonder before diving back into the kiss. Willa was always sexy, but there was just something about her being pregnant that made the caveman inside me beat his chest.

When Willa’s body had gone soft and she was pliant in my arms, I lifted my head and looked down at her. “You’re happy about the baby?”

She frowned and poked me in the chest with her index finger. “Of course, I am! I would never be upset to have our babies.”

“Then why would you want to hide it from me?”

“Because you won’t let me do anything! You hover, and you micromanage, and it drives me crazy!”
