And then she could feel the pleasure rising. Hissing and coiling in her stomach until her whole body was tingling.

“Michael!”

She contracted around him, the pleasure overwhelming her. He stilled and squeezed, his eyes shut.

“Too good. Oh fuck, Grace.”

It wasn’t a scream, but she’d take a grunt. Take him saying her name again as he spilled inside of her.

She’d accept him pulling out and cleaning up, then climbing back into bed beside her, holding her tight as he stroked her hair until every part of her was languid.

And she wouldn’t think about how this had to stay a secret. Or that he’d have to leave soon otherwise people would notice.

No, she wouldn’t think that because then everything would feel real. And she liked this little bubble with only the two of them inside of it way too much.

“You really haven’t hadsex since that night in New York?” Grace asked, tracing a circle on his chest with her finger. It was late. Probably too late. But he had no inclination to move right now.

He’d sneak home in a while like a damned teenager. If anybody noticed, he’d come up with some lame explanation. Being here with her like this was worth all the lies.

“You say that like you don’t believe me,” he said, amused at the shrug of her shoulders. “Do you think I’m some kind of sex fiend?”

“If tonight’s anything to go by, yes.” She grinned. “And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

God, she was delicious. Her skin was so soft against his. He dipped his face into her hair, breathing her in.

“I’m too old for hookups. Sex without intimacy doesn’t hold as much attraction to me anymore. If I’m going to sleep with somebody, I want to like them first.”

“You slept with me the same night you met me.”

He smiled. “And I liked you. Very much.”

“I liked you too.” She exhaled softly, putting her arm over his stomach, curling against him.

“How about you?” he asked. “You’re young and beautiful. How come you haven’t had sex either?”

“I’ve been in Hartson’s Creek,” she pointed out. “There’s not exactly a surplus of gorgeous single men around here.”

“How many relationships have you had?” he asked. He wanted to know, and he didn’t. It was like pulling at a scab. Needed, but unpleasant.

“Pascal was the main one,” she said. “Before that I had a few boyfriends at college, but nothing major.”

“And he hurt you.”

She looked up at him. She didn’t look hurt right now. She looked beautiful and sleepy and pink cheeked.

“He did, but I’m over it.” She kissed his chest. “I think I was over it as soon as I was under you.”

He laughed. “Which time?”

“The first time.”

Michael nodded. That night pretty much got him over everything, too.

“I looked for you,” he told her. “On the internet, I mean. I don’t think I really stopped until I saw you atChairs.”

“What would you have done if you’d found me?”
