Grace laughed. “Maybe I’ll teach you.”

“Where?” He pressed his lips to the tip of her nose. “At Logan and Courtney’s farm? Don’t you think they’ll find out something is going on with us?”

“Maybe by then they’ll know,” she said carefully. “Maybe everybody will.”

“Maybe.” He brushed his lips against hers, sliding his hand down her side. Then he deepened the kiss, his fingers curling around her waist, pulling her closer. His lips were soft, undemanding, moving slowly against hers. Like they had all the time in the world.

And then it came to her, then. This was the first time he’d kissed her in public since they’d reconnected. The first time he’d held her so close she could feel the effect her body was having on his.

Her chest tightened. This was what she wanted. It was the two of them against the world. She felt safe in his arms. And alive, too.

And when they parted, he gave her a grin.

“Shall we go home?”

“Home?”

He shook his head, still smiling. “To the hotel, I mean.”

She nodded, taking a last look at the house her family used to own. “Sure.” But a building wasn’t home. Nor was Hartson’s Creek or a hotel.

Home was starting to feel like Michael Devlin.

“I can’t believeyou made me do that.” Michael shook his head as he opened their hotel room door. It was almost midnight, and Grace hadn’t been able to stop smiling all night.

“You were amazing. Sounded just like Springsteen.”

“More like a Springer Spaniel,” he grumbled, but there was still a smile on his lips.

When she’d pulled him into the karaoke bar after they’d left the restaurant, he’d been unsurprisingly resistant. And maybe that had been part of the fun of persuading him in. But she also loved karaoke.

Even if she couldn’t sing, she had fun trying.

“I thought you were sexy,” she told him, and he rolled his eyes again. “Seriously, you were hot. You have this graveled quality to your voice.”

“Let’s leave the singing to Presley and Marley, huh?” he said, kicking his shoes off.

“Sing for me now.”

“Nope. You’ve gotten your one song for this year.”

“Good thing I recorded it then,” she said lightly.

He narrowed his eyes. “You didn’t.”

She shrugged, grinning. “I need something to keep me warm at night when we’re back in Hartson’s Creek.”

“That’s worse than taking a dick pic.”

“I’ll take some of those too if you’d like.”

He walked toward her, his gait slow. “Take a photo of my dick and I’ll show you exactly what I can do with it.”

Grace stepped back, still grinning. God, he was so much fun. She loved teasing him. “That’s not the threat you think it is.”

“Delete the video, Grace.”
