“Right.” He gives me a look like he doesn’t believe me. “Why are you asking if something is wrong with you?” He snatches the bottle from my hands before I can take my first taste and brings it to his lips. I glare at him as he takes a drink, then places the bottle back on the table.

“Because I was chatting with this guy from my chemistry class, and he ghosted me!” I complain, holding up my phone. “See,” I say, showing him my seven read messages that have gone unanswered. “Ghosted. I really do need your help,” I admit as I turn my head to look at him. Jeez. Why’s he so attractive? His lips have no business being so alluring. Don’t even get me started on his eyes. It’s criminal, the way he looks at me. I sit up, facing him fully.

“If he was foolish enough to ghost you, then he’s not the one. Move on.” Nash scoots away from me, but I scoot with him, making him lift a brow and hold up a finger. “Rose,” he warns like he can tell what I’m about to ask for, but I shake my head.

“You’re not allowed to break my heart, but you could fuck me, no strings attached!” I argue, and his eyes go wide, and I think maybe he had no idea what I was going to ask after all.

He’s about to reject me, so I lunge forward, hovering my finger over his lips, not quite touching him, and he keeps them shut.

“Just listen, okay? Every time I tell a guy I’m a virgin, they ghost. Or laugh. Sometimes, they have the decency to reject me kindly, like you did on the blind date, but the result is the same!”

“It’s a bad idea,” he says but doesn’t try to say I’m wrong about the rejection.

“I’m not even brave enough to sext because I’m scared to say the wrong thing!” I pout.

Nash shakes his head, grabs my wrist, and pushes me back, but doesn’t release me. “Very bad idea.”

“Because of me, because you don’t think I can handle it, or is there another reason?” I tug my hand free and drop it in my lap.

“We’ve had this conversation already, you radioactive succubus. You might think you can handle it, but you can’t. Look me in the eyes, and tell me you haven’t been wet all day, just thinking about last night,” he challenges, leaning into me as my breath hitches.

“First, rude,” I whisper. “Second, of course, I have. I bought three vibrators because of how worked up I’ve been. Thanks to you. Can you look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t want to be the one to teach me how to use them?”

“Oh, I want to teach you a lot of things, Rose.” Nash’s voice drops to a whisper as he leans in. “Clearly, you don’t need to be taught how to bring a man to his knees, though.”

“Will you teach me? If you say no, I’ll never ask again,” I vow, but that’s the exact moment Holden and Ren walk into the room.

“Teach you what?” Holden asks. Might as well confess. While I’m feeling brave.

“How to fuck. And flirt, and sext. How to make a guy come, and how to make him want me.” Should I be confessing this to Holden? Maybe not, but it’s too late now. The words are out there. Can’t take them back now. “I want Nash to teach me how to beg for it.”

“Jesus fucking Christ, Rose, I think you’ve got the dirty talk down,” Nash groans, making me blush. Quieter, he whispers, “Who are you trying to convince? Holden, or me?”

“What do you think?” I ask Nash before turning to Holden, who, as of now, is just standing there, staring at me with a blank expression. He might have gone into shock.

“Is there a reason you can’t just use Google or watch porn?” Ren asks from beside Holden. Nash starts inching further toward the other side of the couch, and I deflate.

“I’ve repelled him,” I whine, throwing my hands up and my body backward until I’m lying on the couch with my hands over my face. I peek through my fingers at Holden, whose blue eyes go wide as Nash chuckles.

“I’m not repelled,” Nash says when I look over at him, and I watch him lift a brow at me, shooting a pointed look that screams, ‘which you already know.’

“Are you asking if I’m okay with this? If I was Nix, would you ask him for permission to fuck his friends?” Holden asks, sounding either angry or hurt, and my eyes go wide. Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no…

“I don’t know what to say to that,” Lorenzo says.

“No. If you were Nix, I never would have said any of these things.” Time for a truth bomb no one asked for. “You’re not Nix, though, and you never have been in my eyes.” Shit, I hope that wasn’t too harsh. “What I mean is, Nix and I wouldn’t have this conversation for many reasons. The main one being that we share DNA. He and I have a very different relationship than the one you and I have.” I shrug my shoulders. “You’re different. You always have been, and you always will be.” I leave out a lot.

There are too many things I just can’t say. Things I should never say. No matter how badly I want to.

“There’s no point having this conversation anyway. These two already rejected me,” I add, and Nash scoffs.

“Woah! I didn’t reject you. I said it was a bad idea.” He pauses. “Wait, you already tried to replace me?” Nash frowns, and I hear him grunt. I turn to see Holden glaring, and Nash rubbing his chest.

“Her brother is our best friend,” Holden reminds the other two, and I scoff.

“Her brother is your stepbrother,” Nash hisses, and Holden’s back goes ramrod straight.

“Step…not biological,” I point out. “Look, I realize this is…insane. That I’m asking for a lot, but there’s no one I trust more than the men in this room. I’m not asking for love, but I know I’m asking a lot. I already told Nash I wouldn’t ask again if he said no.”
