"A few."

Guilt wrapped painfully tight around my chest, squeezing hard.

"Go get a shower." I released her. "You're staying here tonight. You can find something to sleep in, in my dresser."

She disappeared up the stairs, and I pulled out my phone, shooting the guys a message.

Christian - 9-1-1 - Meet me at the pool house ASAP.

Pacing the floor, I tried to calm myself, to remind myself that I had to control my temper for now. I needed to focus my attention on finding a safe place for Harper.

The sound of the shower turning on echoed through the quiet house until a diesel engine pulling up drowned it out.

"Hey, what's going on?" Aiden scowled, rushing through the front door, followed by Julian, Maverick, Bash, and Link.

"Who's here?" Maverick asked, his gaze staring up at the ceiling at the sound of running water upstairs.

"Harper is upstairs showering."

"Oh, thank god you two kissed and made up," Aiden muttered, running a hand down his face. "Even she was acting stupid.

"Yeah, she got into a fight at school," Julian said. "She never gets into fights."

"Did you see the fight?" I asked. They all looked at each other, eventually shaking their heads. "She didn't get into a fight at school."

"Where did she get those bruises from?" Aiden's brow knitted together.

"Noah."

"Wait," Julian said, stepping forward cocking his head to the side. "Are you saying Noah put those bruises on her face?"

I nodded.

"Her back and body are even worse," I muttered as guilt wrapped tightly around me.

"We can all fit in my car," Link said, throwing his thumb over his shoulder.

"I promised I wouldn't go after Noah." I groaned, shoving my hands into the pockets of my jeans.

"I didn't promise anything," Aiden shrugged, his gaze flashing from me to Link. "Did you, Link?"

"Nope," Link answered.

"Yeah, me either." Maverick shrugged.

"Noah will get what's coming to him," I warned. "But first, I need to make sure that Harper is safe and that they can't get to her." They all nodded in understanding. "I need to find a safe place for her to live first."

"And after that?" Julian asked.

"You guys can have him and every Villa Boy that ever put his hands on her."

Chapter 19

Harper

Pounding down the stairs, the whispers went silent. I hadn't heard the guys show up, but it didn't surprise me that they were here now. They were always here. Stepping off the last step and onto the hardwood floor, my eyes flashed between Christian and his friends.

He'd told them. I knew that look in their eyes. Pity. I hated that look.
