"No." He half smiled. "Truth?" I nodded. "I overheard my mother and grandmother talking a few months ago about a baby girl my father had. I didn't know it was you, though." He sucked in a deep breath before slowly blowing it out. "I questioned my father about it, and he had no idea what I was talking about."

"Your mother and grandmother paid my mom to leave your father alone," I said. "Your mom told me at the senior skip day event."

"That's why you left so upset," he said.

I nodded."You don't seem surprised," I said.

"I love my mother, but sometimes she does stupid things," he scoffed.

"She asked me not to tell you."

"You shouldn't have had to tell me," he said. "None of this should have gone down the way it did."

"Christian knew," I added. "I asked him not to tell you until I had time to process everything, so please don't be mad at him. So, what do we do now?"

"I guess that's up to you." He shrugged. "What do you want?"

"I have no idea."

Chapter 47

Christian

Three days... It had been three days since Harper disappeared without a word.

Pacing the kitchen floor in the main house, I searched my memories for where Harper could have disappeared.

"This doesn't make sense." Chloe scowled. "Harper knows Noah is looking for her. So why would she leave?" We hadn't had the chance to explain to her that it was our fault. That she'd heard Aiden talking to me, and she'd left.

Twisting to look at her, it hit me. Harper should be able to leave without me worrying about her safety. She should be able to go for a walk and not worry that someone would hurt her. I wanted to find Harper more than anything in the world to fix this, but right now, I was worried about the wrong thing.

I knew what I needed to do.

Snatching my keys off the counter, I stormed towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Aiden followed behind me.

"To do what I should have done a long time ago," I said dryly, pushing through the front door and storming down the driveway.

"Christian," Aiden pleaded. "Think about this."

"I have," I said, beeping the Jeep unlocked. "If I can't find Harper to bring her back, then at least she will be safe out there without me."

"This is insane," Aiden barked. "You have no idea what you're walking into." I threw the door open and jumped into the Jeep, and Aiden did the same on the passenger side. "If you're not going to listen to me, I'm going with you."

"Christian," Chloe shouted. "Aiden." Aiden flashed her a look, and she gave a slight nod. He'd told her something with a look, but I didn't have time to figure out what. It didn't matter. Flicking on the headlights, I threw the Jeep into drive.

I'd burned the single-wide dump 'where they'd lived to the ground, but I'd heard rumors that Noah had moved his dirty business into a bar on the south side. A bar that Levi owned. Moving in on their turf was a death wish, and I knew it. Who knew how many would be there or what weapons they had available? I had to be smart about this.

"If something happens to you, Harper has no one," Aiden hissed, grabbing the dash as I whipped the Jeep around a corner. He was wrong. She had an entire family in the Valley. Aiden, Link, Chloe, Ryder, Bash, Maverick, and Julian would ensure she was taken care of, not to mention my family. I had to do this. I had to end this for her, even if it meant I died, too.

It took fifteen minutes to get to the old run-down bar. Pulling the Jeep into a dark back corner of the bar, I killed the lights and engine.

"Now what?" Aiden asked. I didn't answer. I didn't know yet. The bar was eerily dark and quiet, even though several cars were in the parking lot. I wasn't even sure if it was a functioning business or a drug house.

"We wait," I muttered. We would wait for the perfect moment to end this.

"We don't even know if Noah is in there." Aiden groaned, slumping back in his seat.
