Pushing through the front door, my gaze flicked around the small shop. It was exactly what I would have imagined a tattoo parlor would look like. There was a small waiting area with black leather couches, a small table covered in different tattoo magazines, and a large binder that probably had premade designs that customers could choose from.

"What's up, Jay?" A pale, thin woman covered in tattoos and piercings smiled. Her hair was short and jet black, her eyes were bright blue, and she had full red lips. She had three piercings in her lip, two in her nose, and two in each eyebrow, and I was sure there was more that I didn't notice. Even with all the tattoos and piercings, she was wildly beautiful.

His tattoo artist was a hot woman, and I don't know why that didn't surprise me.

"Candy," he said, and I almost choked. Her name was Candy. "This is Sadie, my girlfriend."

"I still can't believe that word came out of your mouth." She flashed him an affectionate look, and I realized he'd fucked her. I shouldn't care, but I did, and I hate myself for it. "It's nice to meet you, Sadie." I forced a smile but couldn't pull myself together enough to mutter a word.

"You said you had a couple of designs ready to look at?" Jayden asked.

She twisted around, grabbed a large white binder, then spun back around, setting it on the glass countertop. She flipped the binder open, and Jayden and I watched as she flipped through the white sheets of paper covered in clear page protectors with hundreds of different designs.

"Ah, here we go." She flipped the binder so the designs were no longer upside down. "I did three, but if those aren't what you were looking for, you can talk me through a design."

The first design was simple but bold, and I knew immediately it was what I wanted. Five stars started at the top of the page and zig-zagged down. One large star at the top was shaded with black and dark green ink. It represented my oldest brother, Ricky. The next star was slightly smaller but was shaded with black and pink ink. It symbolized my oldest sister, Lucy. The middle one was smaller than the last, but it was black and hollowed. It wasn't filled in with a color like the others. It symbolized me—the only living sibling. The threat of tears stung my eyes, but I forced myself to swallow them. The next star was again smaller and shaded with black and blue ink for my youngest brother, Derek. The last tiny star was stained with black and purple ink. It was for my baby sister Kayla.

Every star portrayed them with their favorite colors.

"How?" My voice cracked, and my vision blurred as I traced my fingers over her beautiful piece of art. How did she know?

"Do you like it?"

I nodded without taking my eyes off it. I wasn't going to cry. "This is the one."

"Tell me where you want it, and I'll resize it to fit the area." Candy smiled.

"What's up, Jay?" a deep voice said, and my gaze flicked up to see a shirtless tall, lean man strolling into the room. His long hair was black, his eyes were unrealistically purple, and he had a tattoo in the center of his forehead that said SLUT in big, bold black letters.

Jayden and the man exchanged a greeting. "Max," Jayden said, his gaze flicking to me. "This is my girlfriend, Sadie."

"What's up, Sadie?" he said, and I was almost positive he was high. "My chairs open, man. You ready?"

His gaze flicked back to me. "Are we ready?"

"Are you getting a tattoo too?" He nodded.

"Don't worry, sweet cheeks," Max winked, and I tried to control my lip from snarling at the word sweet cheeks. "The chairs are close, so you can still hold hands."

I wasn't scared of the pain; I craved it.

"I'm ready."

Standing in front of the long, full-length mirror, I pulled the hem of my shirt up, letting my gaze trail over the beautiful ink covering the curve of my waist down to my hip. The tattoo was gorgeous, and the artist who created it was amazing at what she did, even if she did have a past with Jayden.

"Beautiful," Jayden whispered as his large hands slid around my hips, his eyes locked on me through the mirror. My gaze blinked up, meeting his, a slow smile spreading across my face realizing he wasn't talking about the tattoo.

"Do I get to see yours?" I twisted around to face him.

The corners of his lips curled into a smirk.

"Do you want to see it?" I nodded, stepping back and scanning over his decorated arms and chest, not noticing anything new. Our chairs were near each other, but the way I was laying in the chair, I couldn't see Jayden while he got tattooed, but it must have been small because his tattoo didn't take half the time mine did.

"Where is it?" I pinched my brows. When his hand moved to flick open the button on his jeans, my mouth dropped, and my eyes widened. He slid the zipper down.

"Jayden," I whisper-hissed, my eyes darting around the room. We were alone. "Where did you get the tattoo?" Shoving down his boxer briefs, his smile widened as he folded down the sides of his jeans, revealing a white bandage near the sharp V of his groin. He carefully peeled back the bandage, and my breathing hitched.
