Emily packs the things away around us as I remain in place, thoughts of Kincaid and his men starting to flood my mind as I remember being at their compound gates before freeing myself from their grasp.

I close my eyes, trying to remember what I saw beyond the blood splattering from the men in the SUV with me. I try to recall where I was, what I was actually seeing, smelling, hearing, but it’s all too vague. I was drowning in adrenaline. Taking a deep breath, I try to remember what the roads looked like as I escaped and made it home, but just like in my dreams, it’s all too fuzzy.

Maybe I need to try them out for real. Head out and survey the surrounding areas.

Emily yawns again, pulling me from my head, and I blink my eyes open to see she’s put everything away. “I’m so sorry, I should have helped.”

“Don’t worry about it, I could tell you were deep in thought.” She smiles, stretching out her limbs. I wait for her to ask what I was thinking about, but she doesn’t pry.

I don’t know what I did to get this girl to like me, but she’s like family, the sister I never knew I wanted or needed. Now she’s so important to me I would protect her with my life, just as I have done and I will continue to do for the rest of time.

“I’ll let you get some sleep.” I stand from the bed, stretching my arms above my head and groaning with the perfect feel of tension leaving my bones.

“Aren’t you tired too?” she asks as I head for the door, and I nod, turning back.

“Yeah, but I have a plan to put into action first. Then, I can pass out.” She smiles at me, again not pushing for further details as I mumble my goodnight and step out into the hallway.

Emmett’s door across the hallway is slightly ajar, and anticipation quickly ripples down my spine with excitement and warmth. I rap my knuckles on the wood, and it opens a little, revealing my Viking as he glances in my direction.

“Hey, Snowflake.”

“Hey, Viking,” I reply, making him smirk as I shut the door behind me. “Have you been expecting me?” I point to everything he has laid out.

“Nope, I just sit like this all the time.”

“With Swifty playing in the background? I thought as much.” I lean into his side, and he presses a kiss to my temple.

“Are you ready?” he asks, ignoring my jibe at the music playing around the room. I cast my gaze over the equipment he has set up and nod.

“Ink me, Viking.”

Scarlett getscomfortable in the seat I’ve set up for her. Gray had told me mere moments before she stepped in that he had confessed to her what matching tattoos meant to the club, meant to us, and without missing a beat, she leaned across the table and whispered for me to tattoo her first.

She wants this, wants us, and there is no denying it any longer. Once we are done tonight, it will be fresh on her skin and visible to everyone. Only Gray will know what it means at first, but the moment he has it done too, the rest will be history.

“Nervous?”

“Never.” She beams; her eyes tired as she rises from her seat, turning on the spot to drop back down, facing the opposite direction. Then, she pulls her hair up into a bun, revealing her delicate neck to me before pointing at it. “I want it here.”

With the way she has her hair up so much, it’s going to be on display for all to see.

Fuck.

I like that a lot.

My fingers twitch, eager to carve the wordmineinto her, just like when I tattooed her the first time, but this will be just the same.

“I think that would be perfect,” I mumble, my throat drying with the thought.

Reaching for the stencil I was working on before she got here, I hold it up to her neck to check the sizing, and it fits perfectly. I know she was happy for me to freehand it last time, but the meaning behind what this will represent felt too risky this time. She deserves the best, and that’s what she’s going to receive.

We sit in comfortable silence as I prep her skin and transfer the stencil. “Do you want to take a quick look before I get started?” I offer, slipping my hands into black latex gloves, and she shakes her head.

“I trust you.”
