We rode out the wave of pleasure together. My body was on fire, my skin hot, but Wesley’s skin seemed hotter still, branding me when he touched me, kissed me, covered me with his colossal frame.

He bucked his hips slowly against me, milking the last of his orgasm, before he collapsed his large body on top of mine. It took my breath away, and for a second, all that existed was me and him. The world fell away.

When he rolled off me, pulling out, we lay side by side, breathing hard.

“Fuck,” he bit out.

“Yeah,” I agreed.

That had been incredible.

I turned my head to Wesley, but he didn’t make eye contact. Instead, he stood and walked to the bathroom so that I had a perfect view of his tight ass, his muscular back, his thick thighs.

Holyshit, he looked like he’d escaped from the cover of a magazine. No, that wasn’t right. Models on magazines weren’t even that perfect. Wesley was something else—someone that didn’t seem like he should exist at all. He was a god among men, and while he was in the bathroom, I shivered and ran my hands down my body. I still hummed and pulsed with the aftermath of our sex, and although we’d just finished, I wanted it all over again.

I wanted more.

I wanted all of it.

Wesley returned, and I sat up on the bed, feeling self-conscious despite the sex flush that still stretched across my body.

He climbed onto the mattress and kissed me.

“I could have you all over again,” he growled.

“Yes, please,” I said.

He chuckled, pushed me down onto the mattress, and kissed me, and I was ready for him right away.

DANNA

Six Months Later

Charlie foundme in the kitchen where I put together a plate of chips for a customer.

“We need to talk,” he said.

“Just let me deliver this,” I said.

“Let Cassie take it.”

I hesitated. “It’s my table.”

Charlie gave me a hard glare, and Cassie appeared next to me.

“Can you take this to my table?” I asked. “The one with the dark-haired kid.”

Cassie glanced at Charlie before she smiled brightly at me. “Sure, I’ve got you covered.”

When she disappeared, I followed Charlie to his office at the back of the diner. He closed the door.

“Sit down, Miss Rosenberg,” he said.

I did as he asked. My stomach twisted in a bunch of nerves, and I knotted my fingers together in my lap.

“What’s this about?” I asked.
