Itdoesn’t take me long to get up my driveway, but unfortunately, there’s another pair of headlights pulling up right behind me.Itry not to giveGeorgiaany of my attention as she screeches to a stop behind me, ignoring her as she calls my name.MaybeifIignore her long enough she’ll eventually leave.Thisisn’t whatIwant right now.WhatIwant is to get the hell over her.

Shegrowls into the night and slams her door shut, the heels she’s wearing clicking against the pavement as she rushes up my front porch.

Ispin around, glaring at her. “Goddamnit,Georgia.Leaveme alone!”

Sheflinches, almost making me sorry for screaming at her like that, butIdon’t know how else to get it through her damn head. “You’rean asshole!”

Myeyes darken at her term for me andIcock my head to the side. “Isthat so?”Iinch closer to her, my body still being pulled in whenIdon’t want it to be. “Andhow is that?”

Hereyes are glistening with tears as she looks at me, cracking right through my heart even though she doesn’t deserve it. “Youdidn’t talk to me!”

Istep away from her. “Notinterested in doing so either.Youknew whatIsaid, andIalso stated that no explanation would make me change my mind.”AndI’mdetermined to stay firm on that, no matter how hard she cries in front of me right now.Evenas that stray tear falls down her cheek,I’mstaying firm on my word.

Shescoffs. “Youdon’t even know anything.Howcould you toss me away so easily?”

“Me?”Isay, thrusting a finger into my chest. “Ididn’t do a goddamn thing that you didn’t.”

“Idid that beforeIknew what you wanted from me.Inever did it after that!”

Inod, then chuckle. “Oh, yeah, tell that to the manIsaw standing outside your house last week.”

Sheclenches her fists at her sides, her nostrils flaring in the most attractive way, andIcan’t help but move closer to her. There’sonly so much distance left, and ifIget any closerI’mgoing to cave.IknowIam.

“Leave,”Igrit out, not able to move from my spot asIstare at her.

Georgiashakes her head. “No,Ideserve for you to hear me out.”

“Youdon’t deserve anything!Notafter running to him right after our night together.”Ichoke back a sob and shake my head. “Youleft me without saying a word, thenIfind him outside your house with a big smile on your face.”

Shegrowls. “You’resuch an idiot!”Thenshe closes the rest of the distance between us, her lips centimeters from mine, before backing away with a sob. “Forgetit.”

Thiscan’t be how everything ends.

Chapter27

Georgia

Youdon’t deserve anything.

That’sallIcan repeat in my head asImove away fromBishopand turn to head back to my car.Thiswas a stupid idea.Ibarely get far beforeBishop’shand wraps around my wrist and he spins me around.

“HowamIan idiot,Georgia?” he asks, his eyes shining with tears.Ihate that he’s hurting right now, but had he just come to me in the first place he never would’ve had to be upset.

“Iwasn’twithhim,Bishop!”

Hescrunches his eyebrows together and shakes his head. “No,Isaw him outside your house.”

Isigh. “Hewas there, butIdidn’t invite him over.”

“Idon’t understand.”

Heflinches at the glareIsend him. “Whywould you?Insteadof talking to me and asking about him, you decided to throw me away likeImeant nothing to you!”

“Georgia, that… that’s not whatImeant to do,” he says with a guilty frown marring his face. “Iwas just hurt, andImade a mistake.I’msorry.”

“Yeah, well, that’s what it felt like when you told me you had plans,”Imutter, keeping my gaze on the ground.IfIlook at him right now,I’mgoing to burst. “Ifyou must know, he came over to apologize for the way he acted with me.Ihugged him as a friend, and that smileIhad on my face?Itwas becauseIwas talking aboutyou!”

Myhands are shaking asIlook up at him, his eyes wide in understanding, andIshake my head. “Iwanted to tell you how muchIlove you and thatIcan’t see myself being with anyone else, but now you’ve gone and thrown me away as ifImean nothing.I’vealready told you, you are the oneIwant,Bishop, so why the hell couldn’t you have at least talked to me?”
