“He’s not the last one.” A sly smile creeps onto her face. “He is pretty amazing though, isn’t he?”

I chuckle. “He is. So, let’s go celebrate your marriage and forget about my neighbor.”

For now.

“Whatcha lookin’at?”

My shoulders jump, and I clutch at my chest. “Jesus, kid. I’m gonna make you wear a bell.”

“I was literally just standing there.” Noah rolls her eyes like the dramatic teen she is. “Can I see what you’re looking at?”

“No.” I tilt my phone away from her and zoom in so I can see better.

A woman with blonde hair skulks across my lawn, unaware of the Ring surveillance camera catching her every move. Then she crouches down near the edge of the porch.

What the fuck is she doing?

“That’s the woman from across the street.”

I place my phone face-down on the table. “Eat your breakfast before it gets cold.”

Noah walks around the table and drops into the chair across from me. “I can eat and look at your phone at the same time, Dad.”

I pinch the bridge of my nose and let out a long sigh. “If I let you look, will you stop fighting me on everything?”

“I don’t fight you on everything.”

I arch a brow.Like right now?

“I’m simply pointing out that I can do what you’re telling me to do at the same time as doing what I want to do.” She makes a show of biting off a piece of bacon. “I’d call that a compromise.”

“Here.” I slide the phone across the table. “I don’t have the energy for your litigation today.”

Noah snatches it and pulls it close to her face. “What the heck is she doing in our front yard in the middle of the night?”

“Maybe she’s looking for the candy bowl you stole.”

My phone slips out of her hands and clatters to the table as her eyes shoot to meet mine. “W-what?”

I rock onto the back legs of the chair and lock eyes with my daughter. “Did you take her bowl?”

“I…uh…” She swallows hard. “We wanted—”

“That’s not what I asked.”

“We just—”

“Yes or no?”

Noah’s shoulders slump. “Yes.”

“Why?”

“Reese wanted to—”
