Tossing the bags on the bed, I sit, and she joins me. It feels so familiar, having done this a million times growing up. I hope she’s still up for a fashion show.

“What do you think?” I hold up a black leather vest.

“Love it!” she says grabbing it. “Is this for you or me?”

Luna holds up a choker I thought I would pair well with one of my tank tops, but I tell her it’s hers.

“Cool. Thanks, sis.” She side hugs me and continues to pillage the bags.

“I love this top. Try it on,” I tell her, and our fashion show commences.

She tries on everything, and we take tons of pictures and videos for our social medias, and even send a few to Violet.

Thinking of my friend reminds me of the video, and my stomach sours. It’s been a fun hour of being distracted, but I need to do damage control. My assistant, Stephanie, has called me a few hundred times, in full panic, even though I told her to take a deep breath. This ugly situation is unavoidable at this point, and an extra day of ignoring my phone isn’t going to make any difference. I choose my sister instead of panic, and we make the most of our night.

“Pizza?”

“Pizza,” I reply, jumping on the huge hotel bed and attempting to block out the world for just a little while longer.

Thirty minutes later, pizza is delivered along with chocolate cake, and we devour it over the next hour.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so fucking full,” Luna says, stretching out against her pillows.

I yawn, turning off the TV. I have no idea what time it is, but we should probably get to bed.

“So there’s something I’ve got to warn you about. I’m about to get a lot of ugly press.”

Immediately, her eyes dart to her phone.

“It feels really gross actually,” I say, hugging myself. The trolls are going to be vicious in the comments, and I can’t even look. “The guy from the other night, the one from the website you suggested, he recorded us together and sold it to the press.”

“Oh my gosh,” she mutters but still won’t look at me.

This will change my reputation in music and affect her, too.

“I’m sorry,” I whisper, and she nods.

After a long moment where she still won’t look at me, I decide my bad news might actually be worse than I thought. My own sister is embarrassed by me.

“I’ll let you get some sleep,” I say, getting up. “Goodnight.”

“Goodnight, Ivy,” she says, but her voice is sad.

When I hit my pillow, the tears flood in. I cry hard, letting myself feel everything. The loss of hope I saw with Harris, any free time I could have spent with Violet will be taken up by damage control interviews, and now, Luna won’t even look me in the eye. I wonder if she’s watching the video, right now. Is she disappointed in me?

Of course, she is.

CHAPTERFOUR

One month later

Ivy

The crisp air has a chill in it tonight. It feels good after such a long summer. Touring is brutal while also juggling a scandal. My team is trying to rebrand me as a sex kitten, sexually awakened and taking the world by storm. Except, I’m not. I’m still boring Ivy Morgan. I cringe every time I attempt to be sexy. It comes out so awkward. Honestly, I don’t know how much more I can take. I’m almost thirty. My kitten is ready to settle down, not get woken up.

“Breakfast.” Stephanie comes into my hotel room with a couple bags of something that smells amazing, and coffees.

She makes her way out to the balcony and sets all goodies on the table.
