When I pull up at the restaurant and pull the keys out of the ignition, I fluff out my hair and take a few deep breaths.

I knew in my heart that this day would come, and now here I am.

I sit for a few moments composing myself since I’m a few minutes early anyway.

Whatever happens tonight, I’m going to be okay.

I can get through one simple dinner with Taylor James.

I grab my purse and my jacket and make my way over to the restaurant.

When I get inside, I look around at the cozy atmosphere. There’s a long bar at the back with at least a dozen stools.

It’s dark and cozy, with intricate wooden beams and golden lights throughout the restaurant.

The server shows me to our table by the window, overlooking Elliott’s Bay. The small, votive candles create an intimate setting, illuminating the tables.

I see straight away that Taylor isn’t here yet. I don’t mind that, as it gives me a few minutes to relax.

I order a sparkling water as I slide into the seat and put my purse on the seat next to me, hanging my jacket around the back of my chair.

I look out the window to the outdoor tables set up under dark red umbrellas, smiling at the Elliott’s flag flying high in the breeze.

It’s a great spot.

I glance down at the menu, distracting me from my thoughts about how tonight is going to go, when I feel him in front of me all of a sudden.

As I glance up, all six-two of him standing there is quite the sight to behold.

“Taylor, hi.” I smile as he pulls out the chair opposite me.

I push my chair back instinctively before he sits down, and he leans down to give me a hug. I can’t help but let my senses be swooned by his smile and his scent… God… it’s still the same, but sexier and muskier than ever.

He’s freaking delectable.

“We meet again.” He smiles, taking his seat.

The server comes back with my sparkling water and asks Taylor if he’d like a drink. He orders a club soda. That means he must be playing tomorrow.

“So we do.” I sit back down as I take him in during the few seconds while I have a chance without gawking.

He’s wearing fitted black jeans, a nice black button-down shirt, and polished black shoes. He’s shaved recently and his hair looks like it has some gel in it.

“You look great,” he says to me. “You always did.”

“Same goes to you, not much has changed.”

He only got sexier.

He grins a little.

“So, we finally got you back to this neck of the woods for longer than five minutes?” he says, picking up a menu, but looking over at me instead.

He’s at least being somewhat playful. This is kind of surprising.

“Yeah, I needed some time off.” I sigh.

“How’s the job going?”
