Michael huffed, his hands on his waist, “A war your wife started.”

I stop my fingers from beating on the desk, so he heard the clear warning in my voice as I tsked, “Careful now, Michael.”

Looking at the deadly glint in my eyes, he cowered and sat in one of the vacant chairs.

“I am losing men, Galdur. He’s coming for Mia. My guess is he doesn’t know she is married to you. That we are connected,” Michael said, his voice much calmer but still tight.

I hummed. I knew that. I wanted to reveal my marriage when I deemed it fit, if at all. Similarly, to my sister’s identity, I wanted to keep Mia hidden.

The less the vultures that circled me knew, the better. However, I couldn’t deny that announcing I married Mia would grab Alexsei’s attention and, if he had any sense like his father did, he would cease all fire on the Flores Family.

“You have to tell him,” Michael said.

That caused my nose to flare and my jaw to tighten. I didn’t take orders from anyone, and I sure as hell didn’t take them from Michael fucking Flores.

“I don’t have to do anything,” my voice deadly calm, my eyes darkening at his words.

Michael raised his hand in surrender, his body deflating. He knew he would lose this battle with Alexsei if I didn’t step in. Ilya’s son had resources Michael had yet to access, if he ever would.

“I will reveal my wife when I decide so…For now, I offer you my condolences.”

That was the end of the conversation for me. There was no need to speak to Michael anymore. He’s lucky I didn’t stake my knife in his neck for his disrespect. I’ve killed men for less.

The only reason why Liam is guiding him out and not carrying him out is because of my wife.

I don’t want to kill the only biological family she had. I wouldn’t want our future together to be tainted by petty grievances and her brother’s blood.

After Liam walked Michael to the door, he returned to my office.

“Is everything set for my family’s arrival?” I asked.

“Yes, I readied the guesthouse for them. Eli called and said your father was pissed.”

I hummed. That wasn’t news to me. My father was stuck in his ways and believed he still held the upper hand.

I should’ve killed him when I took over but poor Elizabeth was taken with her father.

He wasn’t the tyrant that we knew but the father that spoiled his daughter rotten and spoke kind words.

He didn’t carry her to kill a man at 12 years old like he did Eli, Silas, and I.

Or he didn’t beat and cut her to build her resistance to pain as he did us.

He was the father of her dreams, and I couldn’t rob her of that. But I never failed to remind him that he was only granted mercy for what he did to my brothers and me because of his daughter; our sister.

Fortunately for him, I loved her more than I hated him.

“He wants another wedding to be hosted,” Liam said.

I hummed.

He had balls, I would give the old man that. To come and demand another wedding be held for his benefit was daring.

I’ll rectify that.

“Also, your brother is expressing interest in the club. He wants to run the day-to-day operations. I think he wants to make it up to you.”

I hummed. I think he was too.
