I fall asleep content knowing the woman in my arms wants me.

Lovesme.

I’m exactly where I want to be.

Cohen stands over me, slicing a banana into my bowl of hot oatmeal, and I smile up at him. “Thank you.”

He winks, and my empty pussy clenches in hunger. Back at the counter, stirring around the rest of the cereal, Cohen clears his throat. “How much school do you have left?”

I don’t need to count units in my mind. I know just what’s left, and am proud it’s not more. “Only one year, so, two semesters and potentially a summer school course.”

He nods, stirring, steam clouding his expression. Twisting, he turns the burner off and slides the pot to the back of the stove. He scoops his oatmeal and I watch, because my stomach is tight in anticipation for a reason. I can feel it.

I know that sounds crazy, but it’s just one of those moments in time that, without rhyme or reason, you know just what’s going to happen.

Pouring coffee into two mugs, he asks, “Do you want to use birth control?”

Something tumbles through my torso, ending up in my stomach, wings fluttering, making me light headed from excitement. “I know the logical thing to do would be wait. Wait until I’m done with school and have a job but…” I sigh, prepared to act like I didn’t think this through and it’s all coming off the cuff, casual and simple. But the truth is, I have thought about this. A lot in the last few weeks. “Life is too short to always be waiting for a better time. I have a year left.” I swallow, taking a leap of faith. “I’m okay with having a newborn when I graduate, or, likely, a little bit after. I’m okay with it. And honestly, I like doing life differently with you. Because it wasn’t working for me before.”

“I will wait as long as you’d like, but I want you to know, I’m sure about us. And I may not have a ring on your finger this second, but… it’s going there, Scarlett. I promise you. It is.” He takes my hand, curling my knuckles before kissing them. “I love you so much.”

I swallow, my eyes suddenly blurry from an onslaught of happy tears. Happy tears are a thing.

I really didn’t believe that until now. Then again, I thought my ability to orgasm was broken until Cohen, too.

He’s changed everything.Thank God.

“I’m ready,” I say, practically panting at the idea of Cohen plumping and pumping inside of me. To feel his hand skirt along my low belly, whispering words of encouragement, both of us waiting for more. “And I love you.”

We settle in at the table, sipping coffee as we each roll through our phones, checking schedules and plans for the day. As I’m scooping the last bite of oatmeal, Cohen sits up a little straighter in his chair.

“You okay?”

His eyes veer to mine, a somewhat playful expression on his face. “Otis just texted in the group thread that he needs a place to live.”

I wrinkle my nose out of pure shock. “You’re in a group chat with Otis? And who else?”

He shrugs. “I don’t know, some of the guys from work.”

Surprised, since Cohen is more introverted than anything, I smile. “You are always surprising me.”

He locks his phone and looks up at me. “He can move into your place and take over the lease. We can move into my place.”

I blink. “Jeez, that really worked out well, huh?”

He volleys his head, expression pinched. “Well, he… he needs the apartment by next week. And if that’s too fast for us, you can move in here and I can get my old room back and—”

“Cohen, you are not moving back into a family home with strangers in a single bedroom.” I sip my coffee. He makes it stronger than I used to drink, but I like it better. “Let’s do it. Let’s move me into your place.”

“If it’s too soon—”

I lift my leg, bringing my foot between his spread legs beneath the table. I nudge his cock with my heel. “I said it’s not too soon. It’s what I want.”

He looks at his lap where my foot fondles him, and I take another sip of coffee. “Give me what I want?”
