"Goodness, no one has ever complimented me so much," I mutter in a low voice, but Ethan catches it.

"Well, that's a shame. Then allow me to accompany you for the rest of the night. It would be a crime to deprive such a beautiful woman of the compliments she deserves."

I look into his eyes with shock. I met this man a few minutes ago, yet his eyes haven't strayed from me once, even with the groups of women surrounding us.

"Well, what do you say? May I?"

Ethan holds out an arm for me to take, and I find I can't refuse his offer. I direct a smile at him and watch with confusion as his smirk falters a bit before returning. I slip my hand to perch it on his arm.

"You may."

Ethan gives a smile full of unfiltered glee as he leads me around the hall.

"Oh, I realize I haven't asked you for your name. May I, have it?"

I giggle at his formality.

"No need to be so formal with me, it's Olivia."

"You have a beautiful name."

"Why, thank you."

"And I don't think I’ve told you, my name."

"Oh, you don't need to. I mean, you’re pretty famous, after all."

Ethan grimaces before his smile returns.

"Oh, I was hoping to avoid this. I don't like my identity clouded by rumors. I like the opportunity of introducing myself.”

I catch the disappointment in his tone and try to redeem myself. I’m sure I would feel frustrated as him if people identified me by rumors. It’s one of my fears.

"It's alright. We can ignore what we hear, and you can introduce yourself to me on your terms. I promise I'll listen."

Ethan looks at me with a dazed look.

"You promise, huh?"

"Yep!"

Ethan grins.

"Well, I can't refuse a beautiful woman. Good evening, Olivia. My name is Ethan. It’s very nice to meet you."

I giggle and play along.

"It is very nice to meet you, too. What do you do Ethan?"

We enjoy a night full of flirtatious conversations. However, I can't help but remind myself of the reputation that precedes him.

Ethan

It’sbeenafewweeks since that night, and I can’t forget those gorgeous eyes teasing me at every glance. That beautiful hair that gracefully fell on her naked back, and those lithe fingers caressed my arm as I guided her across the hall.

I remember how her laugh echoed in my ears, and how soft and supple her skin looked, glimmering under the chandelier. She looked like a goddess on earth as she stood in front of that mirror, and somehow, regardless of all the women there, I could not tear my eyes away. I often resort to flirting to charm women into my bed, but that night, I uttered every compliment with sincerity.
