I hold her hand in both of mine and look at her apologetically.

"I'm sorry I overlooked so badly. You deserve way more than I am capable of giving, but I will try to do whatever it takes to keep you happy."

"Ethan, no. You don't have to do so much."

I catch a glance at the clock on the wall. I have to leave, or I'll be late for a meeting.

"I need to leave, but don't worry. I have a surprise planned."

I gently kiss her knuckles before grabbing my things and rushing out the door.

"Goodbye, Olivia."

I barely hear her reply before the door clicks shut behind me.

I spend the rest of my day daydreaming, researching, and hiding my search history from prying teammates as I plan the perfect date for Olivia. I found a site for a private art gallery's exhibition of work based on famous ballets. I recall Olivia once gushing about finding the stories told in the ballet to be interesting, so I waste no time booking two tickets. The price of the tickets is quite steep for an exhibition as it is a private gallery. However, I find no issue in paying for the perfect date.

By the time I’m done planning everything, I’m on my way home, grateful I had taken a shower after a particularly rough practice play today. While parking and locking my car, I start to wonder what Olivia would wear for our date. It's no secret that I greatly appreciate her sense of style and fashion. I once caught her picking between clothes with her door open and caught sight of a gorgeous white dress, backless with a cinched bodice. I wonder if I can request her to wear it for our date. I would love for her to wear that dress. I bet it would look gorgeous.

"Ethan, what are you doing at the door? Come in, already."

I break out of my daydreams and find I am indeed standing at the doorway while Olivia watches me with amusement. I close the door behind me and skip over to her with glee.

"Olivia, I would like you to go on a date with me the day after tomorrow. I also checked your schedule, so I know you're free that day."

Olivia raises her brow with amusement.

"You remember my schedule but not your own?"

"Well, I'm a simple person. My mind only wanders to what's important to me."

The red returns.

"So, will you come with me?"

Olivia beams with unfiltered excitement, taking my breath away.

"I'd love to."

"Oh, I also have a request."

.

"Damn, Olivia. If I knew it would take you this long to get ready, I would have asked you to start an hour earlier."

"Shut up. I'm almost done."

"You're already beautiful, Olivia. Why are you taking so long? To kill me?"

I hear a tinkling laugh through her door and pump the air. I wore a white button-up and folded the sleeves to my elbows, paired with khaki pants, hoping to match Olivia. Finally, I hear her bedroom door open, and as soon as Olivia enters my line of sight, my breathing slows to a stop, and my eyes widen in surprise.

Olivia looks nothing short of ethereal with how that white fabric caresses her body and dances around her calves. The waist is cinched back to a satin bow, and the sleeves fall off her shoulders.

"Well, what do you think?"

Olivia's voice is low and breathless.

"You look like an angel, and I'm worried because no matter where I take us, I don't think my eyes will look away from you."
