I bend down, grab the man by the back of his neck, and snarl. “If you want to keep thoselipsmuch longer, you better fucking tell me where he disappeared to.”

His shit-brown eyes widen. “I’ve only worked for him a week. This is the only place I’ve been.”

My frustration level has reached a new high, and I’m about to stomp his head when he adds quieter, “The other guy. He’s been here longer. Maybe I can get him to talk.”

Fucking little rat. I hate men like him that would so easily turn on their own, but in this instance, I decide to go with it. Desperation doesn’t feel good, but I can’t deny that’s where I’m at.

Desperate to get my hands around Moretti’s neck.

I bring him closer, my voice deadly. “If you upset me one more time, it will be the last thing you do. Understand?”

He nods, and I shove him toward the ground. “Put him in Damon’s SUV. I don’t want to see his face again until he has something useful to say.”

Ethan doesn’t reply, but he picks up the rat and hauls him out the back door just as Damon comes in.

He glances around, and I can see his appreciation for the destruction, but his next words are filled with urgency. “We need to go. Someone called in a noise complaint.”

“And you didn’t see where Titan might have popped out at?” I ask, because that fucking tunnel has to lead somewhere.

Daman shakes his head. “But I’ll come back once the police are done and find where it goes. Moretti won’t get away for long.”

No, he fucking wouldn’t.

It’s hard to shake the fury still storming within me as Jaxon and I get back to the compound, but when I check the cameras to see where Olivia is and spot her still in the garden, painting as if the world isn’t out to kill her…I find a way to quelch my rage.

I promised her dinner tonight, and I intend to follow through.

Without waiting for Jaxon, I step into the elevator and press the button for floor two. The doors start to close, but before they can seal, a hand pushes through.

When they reopen, Jaxon is on the other side with one raised brow. “In a hurry to get somewhere?”

I don’t bother to answer him as he steps inside to join me.

“I know that didn’t go as planned, but at least we have more leads,” he says. I don’t want his optimism right now, though. I want Titan’s head on a spike.

It takes everything in me not to snarl at him. It’s not his fault that Titan has slipped through our grasp twice now and has upped the bounty on Olivia. I’ve tried not to think about it since Jaxon told me earlier, but something deeper about that move bothers me. It shouldn’t be public knowledge that I’ve grown to care for her. She hasn’t left the compound except that one night.

My mind searches my memory, wondering if I did anything to alert anyone to my desire for this woman, but hell, I didn’t even console her after the attack. I let Justine handle that.

Why Titan thinks using her life as a way to throw me off is beyond me, but unfortunately, he isn’t wrong. Which could also be why he’s raised the bounty. We’ve gotten too close to him. If she meant nothing to me, I wouldn’t be trying so hard to find him.

Jaxon still stands there, patiently waiting for me to respond as the elevator moves. I don’t know what he wants me to say.

“I doubled the amount of guards outside the compound,” he adds, and I cut a glare his way. “I know you didn’t want to draw attention by doing so, but Moretti clearly has thought this through. I won’t stand by and put the women here at risk. Olivia isn’t the only one who could get hurt by all this.”

He’s not wrong, but still. This is one of those moments where I’m close to feeling out of control, and I don’t like it one fucking bit.

“The extra guards are fine,” I reply curtly. “Even bring some of them inside, making sure we have constant eyes on every floor and not just through the cameras. If you’re not with Justine, I’d advise that she’s not left alone, and I’ll do the same with Olivia.”

A grin tugs at the corner of Jaxon’s mouth. “Did you know that as soon as Olivia’s wrist was feeling better, they started training together? Those girls will give someone a run for their money.”

“Until a gun is pulled out and a bullet goes through their skulls,” I say harshly. “They shouldn’t be left alone until we know this threat is over.”

He sobers quickly. “Yes, Boss. What else can I do?”
