Thankfully her encounter is over quickly, and her room remains blissfully silent for the rest of the night.

I fucking hate it here!

How much longer before Kurrahstka lets males into our room? Because I’m sure that is his plan. For reasons I can’t fully understand, Danielle and I are valuable to him. Exotic.

Is it because we’re human? Although I’ve seen enough aliens now to know that human features aren’t all that uncommon. In fact, most of the aliens I’ve seen are pretty humanoid. It’s like watching a science fiction episode on TV, where the characters are all familiar with an alien twist.

I figure it’s only a matter of time before we start earning our keep. Not that I plan to stick around long enough for that to happen. There has to be a way out of here, and I’m determined to find it.

Danielle’s breath hitches, and I don’t miss her soft sniffles as she turns away from me.

“It’ll be alright,” I whisper, gently wrapping my arms around her and spooning her from behind, even though I’m much smaller than she is. She relaxes against me, and I listen as her breaths eventually even out, letting me know she’s fallen back to sleep.

We usually sleep facing opposite ends, to make room for both of us on the narrow cot. In my culture, we’re supposed to sleep with our feet facing the doorway, but cuddling with Danielle has me facing the wrong way. I doubt I’ll sleep anymore tonight anyway. My stomach is churning, and I’m too anxious to settle.

I decide I’ll sneak out again tomorrow, during the day while the girls surrounding us sleep and the halls are empty.

I’ve snuck out dozens of times now without any repercussions. Except for the guards Kurrahstka posts to stop me from going farther than the wing our room is in. And even when I’m caught, they never do more than haul me back and throw me into our room.

I suspect Danielle is right, and Kurrahstka isn’t worried about my sneaking out because there is nowhere for me to go. I have no idea how to fly a ship, so despite all my bravado, stealing one is out. Sneaking off the station into outer space isn’t a possibility either.

I’m still running through possible ways to escape when my eyes flutter closed and stay that way.

When I openmy eyes again, the lights in the room are glowing brightly, signifying the start of a new day. The scrape of metal has me turning my head to see one of the green guards pushing a tray with our breakfast through the slot at the bottom of the door.

Danielle climbs over me and hurries across the room to use the small toilet. Then she bends down to pick up the tray, bringing it back to the cot, where she sets it between us.

Reaching over, I pick up a green grape-like fruit and pop it into my mouth. The flavor of sour strawberries explodes on my tongue when I crunch it between my teeth. Breakfast is mostly fruit, sometimes with bread or a hard-boiled egg. The eggs here are robin’s-egg blue with dark green, almost black yolks. Surprisingly, they taste about the same as earth eggs.

We share the tray of food between us, neither one talking. What is there to say? Neither of us slept well, so there’s no reason to say, “Good morning.” We’re trapped in purgatory, just waiting to be dumped into hell.

When we’ve finished, Danielle takes the tray back over to the door and then starts doing her morning yoga. Sometimes I join her, just for something to do, but not this morning. My headspace is dark, and she’s intuitive, so instead of asking me to join her, she lets me be.

After a while, the door opens again, and one of the green guys scoops up our tray. “Come, ladies. I’m to take you to the cleanser,” he says, hovering in the doorway.

This is hardly out of the ordinary. It seems every few days we’re allowed to shower, but something about this time seems different. When I glance back at Danielle, she looks equally on edge.

Without a word, we fall into line behind the orc-like alien, who leads us down the hall to the communal bathroom. There isn’t a lot of water in space, so the showers use sonic waves instead. That took some getting used to. Once we did, it was kind of nice not to deal with wet hair. The sonic waves clean just as well as soap, and it’s almost as relaxing as a pulsing stream of hot water. Almost.

When we finish in the shower, we find that our jumpsuits are gone. In their place are two small piles of cloth.

“This is a joke, right?” I mutter when Danielle holds up one of the folded piles.

“Is this for real?” Her nose wrinkles. The cloth in her hands has a slight pink shimmer and reminds me of a slip dress I saw at Victoria’s Secret. When she holds it up to her body, it barely looks long enough to cover her ass.

“Oh, hell no.” I laugh. “He can’t really expect us to wear this.”

“Of course he does. At least it’s kind of pretty,” Danielle says as she lovingly strokes the soft material.

“I’ve worn teddies with more coverage,” I grumble.

“At least it covers everything,” she scoffs, pulling the slip over her head and smoothing it over her hips.

Where Danielle is tall with curves in all the right places, I’m short and… boxy. My tits are small, and I have no hips or ass to speak of. Wearing something like this takes me way out of my comfort zone.

“Barely,” I mutter, slipping mine over my head. It falls to my mid-thigh and leaves very little to the imagination. “I don’t like this.”
