“The majority of the workers are here against their will,” Raela explains. “They are willing to do whatever is needed to take down Kurrahstka and this station; we just need to let them know it’s time. Their numbers are vastly larger than Kurrahstka’s security and those loyal to him. With the Federation’s backing, we plan to take over the entire station.”

I don’t miss the way she saysweand remember that she’s been working for Kurrahstka for years as a double agent. No doubt, after all this time, it would only be natural for her to include herself as one of the workers she’s pretended to be.

Once again, I’m chasing after Raela as she weaves in and out of hidden passageways and through empty halls. This time, she’s leading me mostly through the narrow passages that are hidden behind the walls, the sounds of sex floating all around us. When the passage dead-ends, I worry we have taken a wrong turn, until she moves aside some boards and raps a code on the wall. Moments later, a hidden doorway pops open, and I’m being pulled inside.

There are two women inside the small room. Both are looking at us with wide eyes.

“Is it time?” one of them asks. She reminds me of whatever species my holo-suit emulated, except with long, tapered ears; large eyes; and a small, lithe body.

“Yes,” Raela says.

The elf woman turns to the other, younger-looking female. She is stocky with green skin and reminds me of a much smaller, more feminine version of the orc aliens. “Go. Spread the word.”

Without a word, the orc female nods once and vanishes through the hidden door we just came through.

“The Federation is in place. The station is surrounded. Do we know where Kurrahstka is?”

The elf woman pulls a comm from somewhere in her skimpy outfit and taps her thumb across the face. “I need eyes on Kurrahstka. What is his location?”

Raela turns to me. “This is Adri. She’s an agent like me who chose to infiltrate the station to take Kurrahstka down from the inside.”

“Kurrahstka is heading to the B wing. He’s got at least a dozen guards with him, and he looks pissed,” a voice replies over the comm.

“Shit,” Raela groans. To me, she explains, “He’s heading toward the hangar we just left, where the Federation is about to attack.” She reaches for the comm she took from my room and taps into it. “Stand by. Kurrahstka is heading your way.”

“Affirm,” a male voice replies. “Standing by.”

“What do we do now?” I ask.

“We wait,” Adri replies.

“And then, when everyone is in place, we attack,” Raela adds with a wild grin.

My chest is on fire, and my lungs burn with every breath I’m pulling greedily into them. My head is pounding, and I feel like I’ve been shot out of a blaster.

“Vittu!” I groan, rolling to my side. What the fuck happened?

The last thing I remember is… Kurrahstka. He was trying to touch my female, and I put him up against the wall. And then… and then… I squeeze my eyes tight, rubbing my palms against them, trying to clear my thoughts.

An escape pod.

That’s right, Kurrahstka ejected me off the station, but there was no life support.

Suddenly the glass surrounding me lifts, and when I peel my eyes open, all I see is Adrazell leaning over me.

“Welcome back.” He grins.

I’m confused. “Where did I go?”

Zell reaches in and pulls me so I’m sitting up with my legs over the side. “You very nearly went to the other side, my friend.”

“Fuck!” I groan, gripping the sides of my head. “Where’s Shae?”Vittu, she must have been terrified.
