She giggled when he grabbed her ass. “Definitely.”

“I’ll clean the kitchen while you’re in the shower.”

“You’re such a good boyfriend. Instead of a shower, I might take a bath. Do you mind?”

“Go right ahead. Maybe I’ll join you.”

But he didn’t get that chance because close to nine thirty, his security camera went off on his phone and he pulled it out to see his sisters coming up the front porch.

Shit.

It’s not like he could run to his room to forewarn Daisy. And they couldn’t see Daisy’s car because it was in his garage.

“There is our big brother,” Harmony said when she walked toward the front floor. “Surprise.”

“Oh yeah,” he said. “Surprise. What are you two doing here?”

“I needed to get out of the city,” Erica said. “I hope this was okay. I was going to come alone, but Harmony decided last minute to join me. I told her to get her butt in gear and pack.”

“She gave me twenty minutes,” Harmony complained. “She told me last night before bed she wasthinkingof coming here. Nothing more. Then this morning I heard her packing and got up and she was just going to leave without me.”

“You could have told me last night you wanted to come or were thinking of it. You didn’t,” Erica said.

“So when I told her I wanted to come too, she told me twenty-minutes. I didn’t even get to shower. You know how she is. I brushed my teeth, peed, changed and threw clothes that probably don’t even match in a bag.”

“I stopped for you to get breakfast and eat in the car,” Erica said. “It could have been worse.”

His eyes were going back and forth watching them but not paying attention because his brain had to figure out what to say about his houseguest.

“Whatever,” Harmony said. “I can’t stand fast food and you know it. I had a smoothie to hold me over. I’ve got to shower.”

“Do I hear a hairdryer?” Erica asked and started to move toward the back of the house where the primary suite was. “Do you have a woman here?” His sister’s face just lit up.

“Stop,” he said. “And yes. I do. Let me go tell her we aren’t alone before you go in there.”

“Are you dating someone?” Harmony asked. “And you didn’t tell us?” Harmony swatted Erica’s arm. “You should have told Theo you were coming.”

“How was I supposed to know?” Erica asked. “It’s not as if he’s dated anyone that we’ve been told since he’s lived here.”

This was the last thing he wanted. “Wait here,” he said.

“What’s her name?” Harmony asked.

“I’ll fill you in soon,” he said and walked away from them.

He opened the bedroom door and then saw that the bathroom door was open too, which was why they could hear the hairdryer.

“You’re too late to join me in the tub,” she said. “I thought that was your plan.”

“It was, but I got held up and it was a good thing,” he said. “We’ve got guests.”

“Guests?” she asked.

The hairdryer had been put on low when he walked in, but she shut it off now, her hair damp and hanging down her back. Not a lick of makeup on her and she was just stunning to him in her brown leggings, one of his Yale sweatshirts on that hung past her hips, her feet bare, but her toenails a pretty pink. It was the only color she had on her. The only piece of jewelry was a pair of silver daisy stud earrings.

“My sisters just walked in the front door.”

“Oh my,” she said and started to laugh.
