Page 24 of Saving You

“Oh, no,” her brows drew down suddenly and she touched a spot next to my neck that was tender. “I bit you. I’m so sorry.” She tried to pull out of my hold, but my arms were like bands of steel around her.

“I’m fine, angel. Fucking loved having your little teeth marking me. Couldn’t you tell? I’ve never come so hard in my fucking life.”

A pleased blush stole over cheeks and I pulled her in close, pillowing her head on my bicep. She shivered and I threw my leg over hers, laying as much of my big body on top of her without completely crushing her.

“I do have a blanket, you know.”

“Don’t need it, you’ve got me.”

She giggled, her warm lips pressed against my chest, right over my heart. Mia drifted to sleep and for once I followed quickly, perfectly content now that I had my entire world safe in my arms.

MIA

“Ilike these.”

It was morning, the sun hadn’t come up but we were both awake. My head rested on Gage’s bare chest and my fingers toyed with the dark grey barbells piercing his nipples.

“Careful, angel, not sure you’re ready for another round just yet.” His own fingers were gliding through my hair and I couldn’t remember a time when I’d felt more relaxed.

“Oh yeah,” I pinched and tugged gently on the metal. “How do you know I’m not ready?” I gasped when he shifted, caging me beneath him and rolling his hard, bare cock against my sensitive opening. “Point proven, you aren’t exactly small down there.”

Gage laughed and rolled us over until I was splayed across his chest. I crossed my arms and propped my chin on top of my hands. “I can’t believe your real name is Adam.”

He tucked his hands behind his head and lifted one dark brow. “Something wrong with my name?”

“No. All this time I thought you were just Gage. Like The Rock or Lizzo.” His big chest vibrated beneath me when he laughed and I joined him, loving how open he was being with me.

“Sorry to disappoint.” He lifted his head and brought his hand forward, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. His touch felt amazing, there hadn’t been many people in my life who’d given me physical touch out of a place of love, not expecting something in return. “Are you hurting?”

I hadn’t realized my eyes had closed and they opened to see his face full of concern. “A little sore but not really hurting. Aren’t you going to ask how I was a virgin up until last night if I have a five-year-old son?

“It was…somewhat of a surprise.” His arms banded around me as he flipped our positions again. Gage, or Adam rather, liked to trap me physically when he had something to tell me that he thought I wouldn’t like. It wasn’t necessary, I wasn’t the runner in this relationship.

“You’re going to give me whiplash if you keep that up,” I laughed, my smile fading quickly when he didn’t join in. His face had gone hard again, devoid of any expression or emotion. “Adam?”

“Do you know what I do for a living, Mia?”

“Not really, I know you work for Falls Security but there isn’t a lot of information out there about you guys.”

His thumb caressed my spine as he spoke. “We’re investigators. Surveillance, digital or in person, tracking, running down leads.”

“So, you’re kind of like a cop?”

“Not really. We can pick what cases we want to take, sometimes we’re brought in to help law enforcement but typically clients come to us because they’re looking for someone that can operate in more of a grey area than the cops. You’ve met Roe.”

Nodding, I waited for him to continue. I’d always wondered how Roe fit in with the rest of them. He was outgoing, liked to make jokes and have conversations with strangers. Basically, the exact opposite of Gage. The ridiculous muscles and badass aura were the only thing I could see they had in common.

“He’s our tech guy. When we need information that requires a computer, he’s the one that finds it. He did a lot of shit for the Marines, classified as fuck kinds of shit and it gave him a specific skillset. I’d never tell him to his face because he’s already cocky enough but he’s a fucking genius at it. There’s more than one case where I’d have been screwed if it wasn’t for his help.”

“I’ve seen you at the restaurant together, Sam, too. You guys seem close.”

“They’re my best fucking friends. Don’t tell them that either, they’d never let me live it down. Roe’s already given me a dozen friendship bracelets. I’d have to move and take on a new identity.”

My fingers automatically lifted to my locket and the movement didn’t escape his notice. “I won’t tell your secret. I’m glad you have friends like that.”

“Me, too. You remember the night of the engagement party?”
