Her eyes bled momentarily to silver. Her inner entity approved of the foreplay. She raised her pinky to nibble at the tip as I moved my psychic fingers down the center of her chest through the cutout of her gown before grasping roughly at her hip. Her arousal spiked hotter and faster, her glowing eyes misty with the first signs of passion. Continuing to hold her hip tightly in my invisible palm, I reached out another psychic hand, continuing down the swell of her other hip and over her leg, journeying to her inner thigh with a gentle massage. She bit down harder on her little finger, leaving indents of her teeth in the smooth flesh, singing to me of her desire to take this further.

Gods but if I didn’t have her soon….

A familiar cough interrupted me, and I saw her eyes flare with panic, and the hasty but powerful wordStop!had me withdrawing every connection to her. I would have to pummel Felix later.

Look out.He cautioned. His irises had taken on a glassy quality. He wasn’t unaffected by my Little Thief either. Lust indeed ran deep in most demonic lines.

An older gentleman in his mid-forties approached from behind me, his black hair liberally streaked with a distinguished feathering of white and silver at his temples. “Miss Ryans, may I?”

My Little Thief took a deep breath to compose herself before smiling and nodding graciously, and I watched with some annoyance as the pretty boy stood quickly to pull back her chair and offer a hand to ease her to her feet. It was time for the mingling, and the first hunter had already come sniffing at my prey. I caught the expression of annoyance on the pretty boy’s face when my Thief eased her arm into the crook of the interloper’s, following him obediently away without saying more than a thank you to the former Sentori.

I barked an order to watch her to Drew while Felix went to hold up the pretense of scouting students for selection, having thrown a few other interest slips in the mix to make it appear we were here to recruit truly. It didn’t escape me that the first person he approached was the girl sitting beside my Thief’s roommate, but I couldn’t give much of a fuck at that moment. Heaven damnit, months without a twitch, and now my cock was painfully straining against the tight confines of my trousers like an untried teenager with his first girl.

I burst out of the entrance doors, releasing my glamor as I went. I then yanked my phone from my pants pocket, finding a much-needed distraction in checking up on our “guest” back at Sanctuarium. Cloaking myself in shadows, I shot away, feeling all the tension of my body melding into the mist before stepping out into our common room, still protected by the buzzing little drone that circulated the room in its annoying crisscross patterns. I pounded on the phone redial, losing myself in the monotonous tones of the ring on the other end.

“My lord,” came Thaddeus’ pained and aggravated response; the sounds of rustling sheets accompanied by disappointed moans in the background told me that he was somewhat preoccupied.

“How’s our guest?” I didn’t care about what my emissary of lust was doing, and he knew it. Thad and I had a long-standing friendship, and with that came an understanding: I didn’t begrudge his insatiable feeding upon the exquisite specimens he lined up in the halls of my home, but my needs took precedence. This was why I heard the rush of fabric and the fumbling of shoes above the hushed words, “Get started without me”.

Once the door was closed behind him, he answered. “She’s okay as far as I can tell. She’s been sitting in the pool most of the day and pretty much ignores us.”

“Relaxed?” I asked, running my fingertips along the back of one of the velvet upholstered armchairs. Velvet was a tactile comfort that soothed the raging demon within me.

“She threatened to cut off Cassius’ balls earlier if he touched any of her shit again, so I’d say she’s feeling more comfortable. The extra room of the guest pavilion seems to have helped a bit.” Thad said, kicking at the wall outside his room, a tell of his impatience.

“Good. Keep it that way. I want to try to talk to her when we get back.” I rubbed my chin thoughtfully, debating ways to loosen her up even more, but I wasn’t prepared to give a random seer access to parts of my home I would rather keep private.

“If you want her relaxed, I could always invite her…”

“No.” The firmness in my tone brooked no argument from my first in command. She was strictly off limits until we knew exactly what she was, and Thad knew it.

“Spoilsport.” Another impatient kick of the wall.

I grunted. “Do you even have room for more up there?”

“I could always use a fifth. Although, from what Felix tells me, your cock is working again, so maybe I’ll just bring you along next time.” Being half-lust, I usually had no difficulties sharing my snacks with Thad and vice versa. It drove the frenzy, the sexual tension of the room thickening to the point where every breath felt like drowning in a pool of energy.

Seeing that I didn’t rise to the bait, Thad continued tentatively. “Or...maybe that new little human you’ve found for us would be up for a little taste test.”

I growled, squeezing my phone hard enough to feel the case crack beneath the pressure. My demon rumbled louder in my chest, and even over the sheer distance between us, the dominant call over our connection caused Thad to stumble to his knees.

“Hey, I’m sorry. Too far, I get it.” His apology did little to quench my demon’s rage, who flashed images of Thad’s broken and bloody body laying at my feet. I growled once more, albeit more gruff than angry this time. “So can I ask...what’s the deal with her? Felix didn’t give me much info; he just told me you’d found her in a forest.”

I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying not to let my frustration show. “When there’s something to tell you, I will.”

“Having that hard of a time with it, huh?” Thad didn’t know when to quit, but I didn’t scorn him for it. He may be a complete and utter prick at this moment, but he knew what it was like when my demon lost control, and it wasn’t something any of us could allow to happen, especially not in the presence of the inferior waste of perfectly good essences in the hall below me. “How does this compare to when you found Liv?”

“It doesn’t.” My response said it all.

Looking for a subject change, Thad attempted to spin the conversation again. “So four more days with wannabe immortals, huh? How will you ever survive it?” His mocking tone belied his pity, and I wanted nothing more than to reach through the shadows and give him something to feel sorry about.

“Funny.” The talk of my Little Thief had me longing to reach out. “Do you have anything else to report?”

“Nope.”

“Fine, and Thad?”

“Ya?”
